Spanking Stories Book Club: Bride Two Soon by Rayanna Jamison

The fabulous Patricia Green is here, fresh from her vacation, to talk about Bride Two Soon by Rayanna Jamison.

Bride Two Soon blurb:

This is a story of love and life- long friendship against the odds.

What happens when two life long best friends Mollie, and Beth Anne find themselves married to the same old fashioned man?
Can they remain friends? Will jealousy get the best of them? Will their husband be able to fix the problem with a good old fashioned spanking, or two?

Bride Two Soon is about forming a polygynist triad in a religiously "gated community" – not literally gated, but effectively. It has lots of spankings of both "wives," and plenty of tension and conflict as the three try to put their lives in order together. Since polygyny is acceptable in their community, it's expected for them to work it out…somehow.

I like what this book represents: a different, wholesome way of life, where multiple “wives” are accepted and the outside, average world isn’t a party to their personal relationships. I could really get on my soapbox here and write a laundry list of why polygyny ought to be acceptable, even in these modern feminist times, but I won’t. And Bride Two Soon stays clear of proselytizing as well. In Jamison’s world the tale is all that matters, and if the reader accepts that this is a story about another lifestyle, they’ll be spellbound.

The story is romantic and loving; there is no explicit sex. My feeling is that Rayanna was avoiding such scenes, and avoiding straying into erotic menage. Her story was crisp and shiny and didn't need sex to make it whole.

1.       When you picked up Bride Two Soon, did you expect it to have sexual menage? If so, what made you expect that?

2.       When you think about a polgynist triad, do you think about the legal aspects?

3.       Considering polygamy in general, do you feel that some sort of sex among multiple partners is likely to happen? (I don't mean flitting from flower to flower, but rather having all the flowers at the same time.)

4.       Jealousy is a main theme in the book. Do you feel that jealousy is inevitable among polygamist partners?

5.       Could you ever see yourself in a polygamist partnership? Why or why not?

6.       When you finished reading Bride Two Soon, did you find yourself questioning how children can become socialized, stable citizens, despite having two (or more) mothers?

I highly recommend this book, and hope that you'll take the time to read it, if you haven't already. Partnerships like those portrayed need some time in the sun, too.

SpankA2Z Z is for...

Zero!

Which is the number of regrets I have about taking on this challenge. It's been fun and I've loved the opportunity to get to know some new bloggers, and get to know old friends in new ways.

Zero is also the number of alphabet posts left for me to do!

Congratulations to everyone who participated either as a blogger or supporter. I feel like we've all run (or limped) a marathon. Woohoo!

Please take a moment to visit some of other folks who have been blogging all month long!

Words of Wisdom

Always round up when you leave a tip.

When you find yourself doing more to solve someone else's problem than they are doing to solve it, it might be time for you to take a step back.

Forgiveness doesn't mean condoning someone's bad behavior, it just means you aren't going to let the hurt and anger you feel about it take over your life.

Be interested in other people. (This is not the same as being nosey).

Be nice to yourself.

What about you? Any words of wisdom to share?

SpankA2Z V is for...

Vacation!

For me, traveling doesn't always equal vacation. I also don't believe that a vacation is a luxury. A luxury vacation might be a luxury, but taking a vacation to relax and recharge is a necessity as far as I'm concerned.

The vacation I am most looking forward to this summer will be a long weekend spent at a friend's house near the beach with my three best friends from college. No sightseeing. No tours. In fact, we might not even leave the house every day. Just time together to relax and to reconnect.

It won't be a wild girls' weekend of drinking and carousing. Excessive amounts of junk food will be consumed and probably some alcohol, but mostly we will just enjoy being together.

How about you? What's your ideal vacation?

SpankA2Z U is for...

Unrequited Love

Sometimes when I'm doing these posts, words just pop into my head and so I go with it.

Unrequited Love is love that is one sided.

I am embarrassed to admit that I have been in more than one such relationship...and no I was not the one being worshipped.

I remember long phone calls with my best friend who was also prone to unrequited relationships. We'd parse every look and word and tell each other "don't worry, soon he'll see how fabulous you are."

I wish I could go back and smack both of us. Hard.

Sure, not everyone falls madly in love at the same pace, but to give without anything in return is just foolish.

And heartbreaking.

More importantly, why did we think we were so unlovable that we'd beg for scraps and hope that "someday" he'd notice?

Is this something that is perpetuated by TV and Movies? Or were we just stupid on our own?

What about you? Have you ever been in an unrequited love relationship? Were you the lover or the lovee? What finally got you to see the reality of the situation? Or did it actually work out for you?

P.S. My friend and I did eventually find wonderful husbands who love us the way we deserve (and possibly more than we deserve...).

For love that isn't just one sided, check out these other diligent bloggers.

Spanking Stories Book Club and SpankA2Z T is for...

Thianna D!

Thianna is the mastermind behind the Corbin's Bend series. In addition, she also writes M/m spanking romance including the Blake And Dusty Chronicles, but today Kathryn R. Blake is here to lead the discussion of Finding Their Bliss, the first of the Corbin's Bend books.

Spanking Stories Book Club Finding Their Bliss (Corbin's Bend Book One) by Thianna D.

Corbin's Bend is Thianna D's brainchild, and Finding Their Bliss is the introductory book for the series.  In case you're unfamiliar with the concept, Corbin's Bend, is the first equity-cooperative housing development created for spankophiles. The community consists of thirty thousand acres in the mountains above Denver with 1000 home sites, several restaurants, a clubhouse, theater, pool, and many other amenities.  Though fictitious, Corbin’s Bend is unique in that everyone living there is into spanking, whether for erotic fun or through domestic discipline.

In her novella, Thianna had to establish the concept, introduce some major characters for the series and tell a story that would make readers hunger for more.  To my mind, she succeeded admirably.

Brent Carmichael loved Corbin's Bend. A small community at the base of the Rocky Mountains just for spankofiles, he worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly and that the residents were safe and happy. He never intended to fall in love but when Charmagne Kendle stumbled into his life, he found an attraction he had no intention of fighting.

Char moved to Corbin's Bend after losing her job, her apartment, and her fiancé all in one day. She had no idea she was actually moving to a spanking community but with the freedom to explore her secret fetish, she found herself happily upended over Brent's lap.

As their relationship deepened into domestic discipline, her ex appeared wanting her back. Now she had to choose. The rich, handsome, and charming Nathan Korven or former police officer Brent Carmichael. To find her bliss, there was really only one choice.

Questions:

1   1.      In order to help establish the permissive atmosphere of Corbin's Bend, Thianna has Char Kendle out jogging when Bethany Angel gets her butt swatted by her boyfriend Kirk while they're walking on the sidewalk.  Char is surprised when Bethany's response is to bend over and shake her derriere in a provocative manner.  Though the encounter was relatively innocent, I'm curious.  What are your thoughts about public displays and do you feel differently about spanking than you would about kissing?

2  2.    After Brent and Char are in an acknowledged DD relationship, Char gets in trouble because she walks a few blocks in the snow rather than drive as Brent ordered.  At the time, she didn't think walking would be a big deal, but Brent decides she needs to be taught a lesson for not heeding his instructions.  He determines she'll receive ten swats of a paddle on her bare butt right in his office where she'll be heard, but not seen.  Ouch.  (Okay, I admit it.  I'm a wimp.)  This is a two-part question.  Part One: what are your thoughts regarding punishments being commensurate to the infraction, and do you think every infraction should be punished with a spanking?  Part Two: Rather than wallop Char in his office, where her cries of distress will be heard by everyone in the Clubhouse, (he believes all spankings should be administered immediately to be effective and public punishment spankings, though not common, are not unheard of in Corbin's Bend) do you think Brent should have waited until they got home?

  1. When Char is hurt in a car accident, Brent steps in to be her caretaker.  Though Char doesn't realize why she's snapping Brent's head off, she does tell him he's treating her like an invalid or an old lady, so it's pretty clear that's not how she wants the handsome hunk to view her.  However, in a moment of high dudgeon, she finally tells him off, saying, "If you remember, I'm not a member of your precious housing development. So, why don’t you just leave me alone? I do not want or need your help, Mr. Carmichael.”  Then she marches up to her front door only to realize she forgot her purse in his truck.  Though the scene made me laugh, it also struck a note of realism.  Have you ever had a moment where you thought you were making a grand, dramatic exit only to have something fall awry, and if so, how did you handle it?"

  1. One of Char's reasons for avoiding romantic entanglements has to do with the way her ex-fiancĂ© treated her.  He is meant to be the villain of the piece, and yet after we meet him we are wondering, along with Char, what she ever saw in him to begin with.  Hindsight is twenty/twenty, of course, and yet the best villains often show us a side that makes us want to like them, or simply want them.  If you read the book, were you disappointed in Nathan Korven once you met him?  If you didn't read the book, have you ever desired a villain from a story, knowing all the while that you shouldn't?

Excerpt:

“All right, Char,” she mumbled to herself. “Time to pull up the adult panties and grow a pair.” Pulling out her cell phone, she grabbed the tan envelope she still had not opened up and quickly emptied the array of paperwork onto her desk. Thankfully, the phone list was on top.
His number was the third one down, listed under Carmichael, Brent. Housing Board, President. Discipline Board, Vice President.
Discipline Board? Was that what they called their police force?
Taking a huge, deep breath, she quickly dialed his number and sat back, hoping she could sound like an adult rather than a raving lunatic as she had the last time they spoke.
“Carmichael,” he barked into the phone.
He sounded angry. Did she really want to talk to him while he was sounding angry? Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.
“Hello? If this is a crank call, it won’t do you much good.”
“No, hi,” she said before she could stop herself. “It’s me. Charmagne.”
“Ah, hello.” Her head came up as his tone lost some of the bark, and her stomach commenced doing weird loop-de-loops.
“Look, um, I’m really sorry for what I said a few days ago, and I talked to Lelo and he said you paid for my truck’s repairs. So, if you could tell me what I owe—”
“How are you feeling?”
What did that have to do with her apology? “Fine. I had a headache for a while, but it's gone now. As I was saying, if you cou—”
“Would you like to go to dinner?”
She watched her fingers pick up her pen and begin doodling in the middle of the lined page as if completely disconnected from her body, as she tried to make sense of this completely nonsensical conversation they were having. “Dinner?”
“Yes. You. Me. Food. At a restaurant. What do you say?” The bark was most definitely gone, but as amusement had taken its place, she began to wish for the bark to come back. The bark made her body tingle.

#SpankA2Z S is for...

Snark.

If I was the eighth dwarf, I'd be Snarky.

Shocking, I know.

In the old days, it was called sarcasm. Now it's called snark. It's probably not the most effective form of communication, but it sure is one that I enjoy.

A friend of mine once said to me "You don't suffer fools gladly" and I think that's pretty accurate. Generally, I'm patient with those who deserve and need my patience but for people who are arrogant, self-centered and oh-so-self-important, Snark is my weapon of choice.

Random thoughts.

Here are a few of the random thoughts I'm having these days.

1. When did the alphabet get so long?

2. Based on the big bug bite on my forehead, I'm going to say that citronella candles don't work.

3. Which is better---frosted sugar cookies or shortbread cookies?

4. Why are my glasses always dirty? Is this how the world really looks?

5. Why don't people in the grocery store line have their method of payment (and please, not a check!) out before their total is rung up?

6. Are any people guilty of #5 also reading this post?

7. Who the #@!^ really ages gracefully? I seem to be doing it kicking and screaming. And with a bug bite on my forehead.

8. Pedicures---one of the best ways to spend $30.

9. A big bag of candy bars---another good way to spend $30.

10. Extreme Couponers---I just don't get it. Why do they need all that toothpaste and deoderant?

Your turn...share some random thoughts.

#SpankA2Z Q is for...

Quiet!

I crave quiet time, do you?

I don't want it to be too quiet or to be quiet for too long, but just a few minutes, especially in the morning, to gather my thoughts can make a big difference in my day.

How about you? How do you carve a little bit of quiet time out of a busy day? Go for a walk? Soak in the tub? Hide under your bed?

What about meditation? I think I'd like to give that a try. Any advice?

Hope you all take a few minutes today to be quiet (after you leave a comment).

#SpankA2Z P is for...

Procrastination!

Which seems especially appropriate since I am leaving this post to the last minute.

Here's a funny thing I've noticed about myself. I hate it when other people waste my time. Hate it with a passion and have been known to be not too pleasant about it.

But, I will happily waste my own time and am an expert at procrastination.

Here are some of my favorite ways to procrastinate:

1. Email (Oh how I love thee...)
2. Facebook
3. Eating
4. Playing games on my kindle
5. Napping
6. Thinking about writing
7. Doing research in preparation for writing
8. Cruising Amazon to see how my books are doing, how everyone else's books are doing and shopping
9. Blog visits (so much fun, so little time)
10. When I get to #9 I start at #1 again.

What about you? Do you procrastinate? Do you have a cure? If not, what are your favorite ways to procrastinate?

#SpankA2Z O is for ....

On the Open Road!

My husband and I enjoy traveling by car (particularly because he does 99% of the driving). Sure flying is faster (usually) but there's something special about a leisurely road trip where you're free to stop and visit the worldest largest ball of twine or discover a diner with awesome pie.

So, what about you? Where would you recommend my husband and I visit?

Where would you go if you could take a road trip?

This is my recommendation (unless you have back or neck problems). If you get a chance to go to Niagara Falls, give the jet boats a try. You won't be sorry.

My other recommendation? Check out these Outrageously dedicated bloggers.

Spanking Stories Book Club and SpankA2Z M is for...

Marlix!

The macho, manly, magnificent hero of Cara Bristol's Terran, which very conveniently is today's Spanking Stories Book Club selection.

I love it when a plan works out.

Here's the blurb for Terran:

CB_Terran_coverinAfter fleeing heartache on Terra, Tara Diehl has adjusted to male-dominated Parseon better than most until she is kidnapped by Alpha Marlix, a ruling commander. At first her tall, muscled abductor terrifies her, especially when he doesn’t hesitate to quell her struggle for freedom with some force. When her attempts to escape fail, she decides to seduce her way to freedom.
But out of seduction and subterfuge grow a true intimacy that cause Marlix and Tara to take action that drives Parseon to the brink of civil war, threatening not only their relationship, but also their lives.

I know many of you have read this book so I'm looking forward to today's discussion.
My questions (but feel free to add your own questions or thoughts on the book).
1. If you had the opportunity to go to another planet, would you?
2. Parseon women don't menstruate. Earth women do, which leads to one of the more vivid and comical scenes in the book. What do you think about including menstruation as a plot device?
3. Marlix and his beta have a very different relationship than Dak and his beta did in Breeder (the first book in the series). Did that surprise you? Do you think that a heterosexual couple could have a relationship like Marlix and Urazi, where they are friends but each seeks sexual gratification outside the relationship?

4. Marlix was often portrayed as sort of a big goofball. Although he wasn't a virgin, he was inexperienced in the ways of seduction and Terran style sex. Was this a turn on or do you prefer an experience hero?
5. Have you read both Breeder and Terran? If so, how did the two stories compare to one another? Did you like one better?

P.S. I'm going to be away from my computer most of the day so I've asked Cara to respond to comments and I'll be back to check on all of you later, so behave. Or not. :)

Lurkers!

You know...those people who visit blogs but don't comment very often (or at all). I know you're out there...I have the stats to prove it.

I wish I knew why some people leave comments and others don't. I can understand that if you don't have a blog and blogger identity you might be concerned about sharing your real name, but I think there are ways around that. Of course, I'd never want you to do something that makes you uncomfortable, but still...I'd sure be excited if you'd leave a comment. Just a short one, to let me know you're here.

What about the rest of you? Were you ever a lurker? What got you to give up your lurking ways and start commenting?

I've enabled anonymous comments for today so there's no excuse not to leave a message and say hi. I hope you do!

#SpankA2Z K is for

Knitting!

I love to knit. It relaxes me and I enjoy trying new patterns. Probably the biggest reason I knit, though, is because there are so many people in need.

I knit slippers because I was told that many homeless people have only one pair of socks so if that pair gets wet, or they want to wash them out in the sink at the shelter, they have to go barefoot until they dry. But with a nice pair of slippers they can keep their feet warm.

One of my clients was a teenaged girl in foster care who had received a donated afghan (not one of mine). She told me that when she moved from foster home to foster home, the afghan was one of the few things that was hers and hers alone to take with her and she always slept with it on her bed.

I've had some pain in my wrist lately so I've slowed down, but when I think about people with cold feet or hands or lonely kids in foster care, it inspires me to want to do more and more.

Here are photos of some of the items I've donated.
These are round afghans folded in half. They probably aren't the most practical but they were fun to make. And a good way to use up scraps.
I was tempted to keep this one because it's so cheerful

Some of these items are cotton wash clothes. I made a pocket in them to hold soap and other personal care items.

Here is an assortment of slippers (and a balaclava) that I made.

Ice Cream!

Try this super simple and tasty homemade ice cream.

1 14 oz can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 cup Half and Half
2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 pint (2 cups) heavy whipping cream

Combine first four ingredients and blend with mixer on medium speed.

In another bowl, beat the heavy cream with the same mixer until stiff peaks form.

Add whipped cream to sweetened condensed milk mixture and fold until completely blended

Pour into loaf pan or other 2 quart freezer safe container and freeze for 6 hours.

Find something else to do for six hours so you don't keep testing to see if it's ready. :)

I think the vanilla is really good but I'm sure you could add in a variety of goodies to amp up the calories and flavor. If you try this, please come back and let me know what you thought.

#SpankA2Z H is for...

Husband!

Mine is patient, loving, generous and just right for me.

We met on Match.com. Our first date was on January 1 and we got married a few months later. (No, it wasn't a shotgun wedding.) In the four years we've been together we've adopted a dog (see D below), moved in with my parents, and both changed careers. Who knows what the future holds, but when you're with the right partner, it's always an adventure.

P.S. I'll tell you a secret. I joined Match to communicate with another guy that caught my eye but when he didn't write back I thought "well, let's see who else is available since I paid for this" and that's when I found Mr. Jones. Every now and then he'll say to me "What do you suppose guy #1 is doing now?"

#SpankA2Z G is for...

Game Shows!

Recently I've been thinking about the role Game Shows play in my life. I know, I'm deep.

The summer my son was twelve was sort of rough. He was too old for day care. We lived in a neighborhood with mostly retired people so not many kids around to play with, and it was the one time in my whole career that I worked full time for someone else. That meant some pretty long dull days at home for my son.

I'm not sure how this started, but each day at about 11:45 he'd call me. What show is on every day from 11-12? The Price Is Right!

He'd tell me what the items were in the two showcases and we'd each make our bids. We'd chat a bit during the commercial and then he'd tell me the "actual retail price" and we'd see which of us did better.

Flash forward 13 years and now my husband and I live with my parents. Around 2:30 my dad starts giving me the countdown, "Half an hour to go" etc.

3:00 ---Family Feud. Two episodes! We watch and try to answer the questions. Debate whether something really is a "good answer" and I practice my fast money skills just in case I ever get my chance on the show.

Maybe we aren't a real touchy-feeling family, but I guess through game shows, we get a chance to connect.

Come On Down!

Spanking Strories Book Club and SpankA2Z F is for...

Favorites and Fantasies.

Emily Tilton is here today to lead a dicussion of The Magic Book from Spank! 2. Thank you Emily!

Welcome to regular visitors to Spanking Stories Book Club and a big welcome to newcomers who might have found their way here due to the SpankA2Z hop. Glad to have you! If you have any questions about Spanking Stories Book Club, just click on the tab at the top of the page for the FAQ, or just keep reading to join the discussion. No need to read the book to participate. And, we're talking about fantasies...and you know you want to share. :)

A magic book I think we all wish existed

I adore Penelope Hasler's writing. I reviewed Spank! and Spank! 2, which feature stories by her and by Becky Sharpe on Spanking Romance Reviews a couple months ago, and when the opportunity came to lead a Spanking Stories Book Club discussion, I jumped at the chance to talk about one of my favorite stories from Spank!, "The Magic Book."
My favorite thing about Penny's style is the way she slides from exquisite formal English to panty-moistening dirty-talk without warning and to amazing effect. Reading one of her stories I constantly seem to be surprised by my own arousal. And because in Penny's stories arousal tends to be punished, I think the contrast between the two sides of her style re-awakens in me that delicious shame that seems to feed on itself and to make everything even hotter.
In "The Magic Book," a girl named Georgina finds, in a bookshop, a book of a kind that I imagine most of us know very well: it's called Tales of Discipline, and it features stories, well, like "The Magic Book" (and also ones called "A Governess in Bondage" and "The Kiss of the Tawse" that I hope Penny writes some day!). Georgina fails to heed the shopkeeper's warning that the book is special, and soon finds herself inside the book: "Georgina turned the page, anxious to find out what happened next. But as she did so a dazzling light burst from the book, enveloping her, filling the room, dissolving everything in its brilliance."
Inside the book a story of a wicked, lecherous nobleman unfolds, with Georgina as the maid who must be ravished. When the incredibly hot fantasy-scene is over, another of Penny's wonderful stylistic features comes to the fore: the heroine who thinks she might be interested in spanking, but would never admit it, despite thinking, in Georgina's case, that she probably shouldn't just throw the book away. . .
My favorite thing about "The Magic Book," though, is the way it allegorizes my own (and, I suspect, Penny's own--and perhaps your own) relation to spanking fiction. Oh, how we want to be in the stories we read, undergoing the terrible things we read (and, some of us, write). But, at the same time, doesn't the power of fiction do exactly that? The line between fantasy and wish is very hard to draw--but when we're reading, it doesn't matter a bit.
Some questions to open discussion:
1. If you had the chance to live a spanking story, which one would you choose, and why?

2. "The Magic Book" features a very traditional kind of spanking story, of a lecherous lord and nubile maids. This kind of story appeals to me enormously, but the "industry" seems to be moving decisively away from it and towards sweeter things. Do you agree? Are you happy about the shift?

3. Do you think fantasies--and erotic fantasies in particular--are wishes? What's the relationship between fantasy and wish, for you?

4. After she finishes living out the story in the book, and exits to the real world, Georgina's first thought is to throw the book away. What about that impulse mirrors any of your own reactions to your own fantasies?

#SpankA2Z E is for...

Entertainment!

Sometimes I think I ought to write a story with some deep meaning that will touch people and change their lives. I mean, that's what writers are supposed to aspire to, isn't it?

If that happens, I''d be thrilled. But, mostly I have decided that I want to write to entertain.

I hope you won't think I have a huge ego, but I'd like to share part of a review that really inspired me.

A story is supposed to take you away on an exciting mind journey.. I wanted this encounter in the English countryside, with these two lovers to go on indefinitely...I was actually disappointed that the story had to end. So thank you for a lovely three hour experience. I can't think of a better way to spend a lazy Saturday morning.

This review actually made me tear up a bit. What a wonderful compliment.

I think many of us have a tendency to downplay what we write as smut or porn or "just spanking stories" but there are nice people out there who enjoy what we do. Sometimes a story (even smut, porn or spanking stories) has a deeper meaning and makes people think, and that's great. And sometimes, people just need a few hours of entertainment.

What do you think?

Another of my favorite E's--Emily Tilton will be here tomorrow for Spanking Stories Book Club to talk about The Magic Book which is part of Spank! 2, a collection of short stories by Penelope Hassler and Becky Sharpe. We'll also be talking about some F words too (no, not That F Word).

If you're curious about Spanking Stories Book Club, just click on the tab above. Even if you haven't read the book, you can take part in the discussion.

Dog!

My aDorable Dog Dooley.

Waiting for me to come home. Who said you could get on the couch?

Is that a handknitted sweater made especially for you, Dooley? Why yes it is.

My husband and I found Dooley at the local pound a few months after we got married and he's been a wonderful addition to our family. He's calm and good natured (except during thunderstorms when he quivers and no amount of singing will calm him down. Or maybe my singing makes him quake.).
Since we've moved in with my parents he has become my father's lap dog and shares toast with my mother. I'm a firm believer in the benefits of pet ownership, especially for the elderly. I'm also a pretty staunch advocate for adopting dogs vs. buying from breeders. There are so many wonderful dogs out there looking for homes...

Corn on the Cob!

One of life's greatest culinary pleasures and a good excuse to use this funny photo.

Now there's a guy who enjoys his job!

I'm from the midwest, where they grow corn. I visited a friend in Boston and she was so excited to buy corn at the grocery store (wrapped in plastic...ick) and when we took it home...she didn't cook it until the next day!

It felt like sacrilege.

Here in the midwest, we know you cook corn as quickly after picking as possible. I've been invovled in some conversations about the logistics of taking a propane burner to the field to simply dip the ear of corn into the water while still on the stalk. I'll let you know if we ever try it. Or if you hear about a major cornfield fire and I don't blog for a few days....

And here's a Cooking tip (from Tyler Florence): Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place corn (husks and all) on oven racks and roast 30 mins or until corn is soft. Husks peel off so easily. Yum.

#SpankA2Z B is for ....

Barracuda!

When I was a kid my dad had a car just like the one pictured above. The Barracuda! I remember, in a land before child car seats (and I have no complaints about child car seats, just dating myself) my brother and I would put the back seat down so we could lay down and look out the big window in the back.

I wonder if we could fit in one now?

P.S. I know this is a weird word to use for B, but it's what kept coming to mind. Not sure why, but I went with it.

And then there's this...another classic (showing my age too).

Appreciation!

I can't believe that I stole  found this idea on a vanilla blog and converted it to a spanking event and people actually agreed to participate. How Awesome is that?

Not only do I appreciate the people who are willing to take on this challenge, but all of the spanking bloggers and writers are a sincere blessing in my life.

My husband and I recently sold our house and moved in with my parents in order to try to make their lives a bit better, so my appreciation also includes the fact that I have the opportunity to write books people enjoy and which affords me the opporutnity to work from anywhere (including the converted garage at my parents' house) anytime (like after the Price is Right but before Family Feud).

So, to all of you who read this post, who stop by my blog regularly (or first timers) buy and read my books or just like my posts on Facebook...Thank you. I am truly blessed.

Be sure to visit all the other Awesome bloggers who are part of the Spanking A To Z Challenge.
