Spanking Stories Book Club: Mob Mistress by Renee Rose

Mob Mistress is Renee Rose's second book in her Bossman Series.

When hair stylist Lexi Tyler finds herself evicted from her apartment, her best friend sets her up with the mobster Bobby Manghini, knowing he likes to play sugar daddy. He offers her a luxury apartment overlooking the city and spending cash every time he sees her, but one thing is clear: he is the bossman.

Lexi soon discovers Bobby backs up his rules with firm, over the knee discipline, but he also takes responsibility for all her problems, giving her more support than she ever dreamed of having from a man

Mobster Bobby Manghini likes to be the man in control, particularly with women, which is why he prefers a mistress for sex, even though he’s no longer married. When he strikes a deal with Lexi to be at his beck and call, he finds in her the full package -- a hot, intelligent woman who is turned on by his dominance and willing to submit to his punishment. But when she finds out he doesn’t have a wife, she is hurt by the deception and severs all ties.

Can he prove to her their relationship meant more than a business arrangement? Or will he lose the one woman willing to give him everything he ever desired?

Publisher’s Note: This book contains spanking, anal sex and hot scenes that may keep you up late reading.

Let's get right to the discussion!

1. What is it that makes mobster so sexy? Are we being foolish to admire men who are, at best, skating very close to the line of illegal activities?

2. Lexi goes into this relationship as more of a business proposition---she needs money and a place to stay. Bobby wants a mistress. Do you think you'd be able to do that? Would you prefer it?

3. Lexi believes Bobby is still married, but he's really divorced. He doesn't do anything to dissuade her from that idea. More of a sin of omission, in my opinion. What do you think? Is not telling the whole truth as bad as an outright lie? Is it worse?

4. What is the appeal of being a kept woman? Is it one of those things that's better in fantasy than reality? Or would you be willing to give it a try?

The Bossman, book one in the series, is on sale for 99 cents. Click here

Second Chance at Love: Lady Katherine's Conundrum

Sigh...Lady Katherine's Comeuppance was my big hit of a book. My first Regency romance and my longest (which was still pretty short) book at the time. Everyone says that series are popular, so I wrote a sequel, Lady Katherine's Conundrum...and it tanked.

One realization about series---people want to see characters from other books in the series, but once their story has been told, readers want a new couple to read about. Cara Bristol does this well with her Rod and Cane Society books. Each one is a stand alone about a different couple, but with cameo appearances by some of our old friends.

I was also sad that this book didn't do as well as the first book because, frankly, I think this one is better. It's a story about friendship and gossip and not so much a love story.

Blurb: She's back and she's in trouble.

After a summer in the country Lady Katherine and her husband, Thomas, return to London to participate in all the festivities available to a Lord and his Lady. The scandal that forced them to marry is long forgotten and they are at the top of the social ladder.

In addition to the pleasures of an active social life, Lady Katherine is thrilled to learn that the friend who abandoned her in her time of need, Lady Lorena Arnold, is now the subject of a salacious scandal. Katherine can hardly believe her good fortune when she observes Lady Arnold en route to a tryst. But, before she can share the juicy tidbit with the other ladies of the ton, her husband lays down the law: No Gossip.
Will Katherine be able to keep her tale to herself? And if not, will her tail be at risk of a brisk spanking from the stern but loving Lord Winchester?

Second Chance at Love: Her Birthday Spanking

This month I've been featurng books that need a Second Chance at Love---they just didn't get much attention when they were released. Today I am sharing one of my own books...Her Birthday Spanking.

This is a short story that I released about two and a half years ago and it just never went anywhere. I was so disappointed because I'd released a couple books in the months before this one and had been pleased with how they did. In fact, this one tanked so badly, I considered not writing spanking fiction any more.

I wallowed for a few months and one day Sue Lyndon sent an email and suggested that maybe the book had been adult tagged by Amazon. At the time, I'd made my own cover with a butt in red panties and upon closer inspection the panties were pretty sheer. If your book is adult tagged, no one tells you, you have to check on Salesrankexpress.com  An adult tag is like a death sentence for a book. It doesn't get recommended or linked (in the also boughts) with other books on Amazon so only if a reader is specificially looking for the book will they find it.

This is particularly ironic because this is a pretty tame story. One reviewer even said so. I changed the cover and title a couple times but still no luck.

Ah well.

Blurb:  All alone on her fortieth birthday, Mimi jams a candle into a frozen cupcake and wishes for a sexy night with a man who knows how to take her in hand and give her the birthday spanking she always dreamed of. She finds herself whisked away to the home of the super sexy and attentive Paolo who makes all her dreams, and a few she hadn't thought of, come true.

Paolo’s hands were warm on her bare shoulders as he positioned her to stare at the juncture of the two walls.
She’d read about this online. Corner time.
She nearly pranced in place with giddiness. Corner time was a special punishment for naughty girls who had to stand in the corner and think about what they’d done.
But she hadn’t done anything wrong, had she?
But she was a forty-year old woman. She didn’t need corner time. She opened her mouth to protest, but the thought of the swat on her backside and Paolo’s commanding presence, instead of making her feel childish made her feel womanly. Here was a man who was in charge and she liked it. She liked it a lot.
Wasn’t that what she wanted? A man who pushed her to her limits?
In the time---she had no idea how long----since she’d thawed that cupcake her head had been spinning. It was sort of nice to stand quietly and take it all in---while contemplating what (or who) might come next.
She’d fantasized about being spanked by a man, someone who would take her in hand and lead her.
Even just a couple swats told her reality outshone her imagination.
Fear jangled her nerves. Did she have the courage to go through with it? Would she cry? Would she lose control?
Would he think her butt was too big? Too jiggly? Oh no. She couldn’t do it. Couldn’t have a man look at her backside. Her breathing became shallow and she wondered if she might faint.
Paolo oozed sex appeal. They probably used his DNA to create those pheromone colognes. Mimi took a deep breath and even though she wasn’t sure where Paolo was in the large bedroom, she knew he was there. His scent, a mixture of musky cologne and one hundred percent grade A male, filled her nostrils and sent a zinger through her body to her hoohaw. She clenched her muscles together hoping to prevent a waterfall of sex juices from puddling between her feet.
“I forgot one of the rules of corner time.” Paolo’s voice carried from across the room. While Mimi had been trying to keep her thighs pressed together, Paolo, with cat-like grace, had moved across the room. He slid his hands inside the slit of her dress, hooked his thumbs into her panties and gave them a quick yank down to her knees.
Like pulling the cork on fine wine, aroma filled the room. Paolo stood behind her, his hard chest pressing against her bare back. She heard him inhale deeply. “Ah, my Mimi, you are all woman.” He pressed a kiss to her bare shoulder.
Mimi bit her lips to squelch a moan, but a tiny sound came from deep in her throat.
Two quick swats stung her backside. “Corner time is quiet time. There will be time for your moans…later.” Both hands lingered on her rear end, caressing the stinging orbs. His arms encircled her waist from behind and he leaned into her so that his stiffness pressed between her cheeks. “Feel what you do to me. That is all for you, my Mimi.”  She stifled another groan.  Even if there wasn’t a rule against talking, she didn’t think she could have spoken coherently anyway. The strength of his arms around her midsection reassured her since she feared her legs might buckle at any moment.
Paolo stepped away from her. Without thinking, she moved her rear end in his direction, seeking the heat and hardness she’d felt a moment before.

The warmth of his chuckle filled the room. “Ah, Mimi. I think you are ready to begin.” He placed her hands against the wall in front of her so that she was leaning slightly forward from the waist. His firm hands roamed from her shoulder blades down her bare back to the curve of her derriere where they lingered and worked her flesh until Mimi wriggled with pleasure.

He tapped the rod to the desk. "Get into position. Make sure your bottom is nice and high. I like to see my work when I discipline."
"You've done this before?" Lolly peeped at him over her shoulder as she bent over the desk. "With other students?"
"I am the one who will be asking the questions, Miss Anderson." He tapped her butt with the rod. "Panties down."

Her delicate hands slowly inched the wisp of fabric down her hips and thighs. If she was nervous, he couldn't tell because her hands moved steadily and once the panties were lowered, she grasped the cheeks of her ass and spread them wide for his view.

Blurb: Professor Douglas Hollister enjoys his reputation as the toughest teacher at his law school. His well-ordered and controlled life is turned upside down when Miss Caroline "Lolly" Anderson shows up on the first day of class.
Lolly has no interest in becoming a lawyer, but her grandfather's will stipulates she must complete one quarter of law school in order to inherit his vast estate. Well-versed in flirting her way through life, Lolly is sure she'll be able get deliciously geeky Professor Hollister to do her bidding.
Will The Professor be able to resist her luscious Lolly-pop ways—or will he lose his briefs?

Note: This is a short story that involves a young woman who does naughty things with suckers and a strict professor who likes to lay down the law with a firm stroke.

Spanking Stories Book Club: The Bishop's First Bride by Rayanna Jamison

Today's book is The Bishop's First Bride by Rayanna Jamison. This is the third book in Rayanna's Love Multiplied Series that is set in the polygamist community of Green Valley.

Blurb: Rosa Collins was only sixteen when she received a vision telling her of her future husband. Knowing that her husband would be Lucas, the Bishop's son, and future Bishop of Green Valley, both thrilled and terrified her. They were a match made in heaven, she knew, perfect for each other.

But becoming the Bishop's Wife is harder than Rosa anticipated. She struggles to transform herself into the perfect Bishop's Wife that her husband needs.

Lucas misses the real Rosa. Somewhere between getting married, and becoming the future Bishop's wife, his beloved wife has lost part of herself. Lucas knows that a good, old fashioned spanking is exactly what Rosa needs to help her find balance in her unrealistic expectations of what the perfect wife should be. But, try as he might, that balance doesn't come easily for Rosa, and it certainly didn't help that her high school nemesis kept popping up and making trouble.

Will Lucas help her realize that all he wants is for his wife to be happy? Can Rosa pull herself together enough to become the Bishop's First Wife?

1. As I said in my review of this book for Spanking Romance Reviews, Rayanna Jamison has a knack for writing sweet, non-erotic spanking romance with likeable characters and enough hints of passion that you can use your imagination to fill in the details. In fact, I found the references to modesty in dress and behavior to be refreshing and sort of sexy. How about you? Did you miss the explicit sex?

2. In the polygamist community where this story is set, a girl will have a dream or be lead to know the name of her future husband. She then prays about it and eventually goes to the Bishop to tell him who she believes is to be her husband. In this story, Rosa has a dream and realizes the name of her future husband when she's sixteen. But girls cannot court or make their future husband announcements until they are eighteen. For two years, she keeps this secret. Would you be able to keep a secret that long? How about when you were sixteen? Is there a difference between keeping a secret that is about you vs. sharing a juicy tidbit about someone else?

3. There were religious references in this book: the herione studied the Bible, the hero went to seminary, and there was prayer. For you, did this add to or detract from the story?

4. My only exposure to polygamy has been the TV show Sister Wives. It became such a disaster that I stopped watching a couple years ago. What about your? Do you watch any reality shows about plural marriage? How did this book compare?

5. It's difficult for a writer to come up with infractions which deserve discipline but are not so egregious as to make the heroine unlikeable. In this book, Rosa gets her first spanking for eavesdropping. Do you think that is significant enough to warrant punishment?

Second Chance At Love: Held For Ransom By Renee Rose

Renee Rose is here to share her book Held For Ransom.

Thanks so much for asking about books we hope get a second chance for love.  One of the books closest to my heart that never sold well at all is Held For Ransom, a medieval spanking romance.

In my mind it has all the perfect elements--abduction/seduction, political conflict between the hero/heroine, mutual respect and spicy domination. I've always felt particularly romantic about the Pre-Arthurian/Arthurian times, when magic was still alive.

I do hope some might give it a second chance and give it a read.

Thank you!!

Blurb: When Sir Gorran’s people disappear after a raid on a Saxon settlement, he kidnaps Princess Ariana, a priestess of Avalon, and demands their return. Though he knew he risked Ariana’s curse as well as a lifetime hiding from the king’s sword, he does not realize his greatest risk in holding the lovely princess for ransom is to his heart.

The intimacy shared with her kidnapper leaves Ariana wounded by the experience and his reappearance at the annual tournament only deepens her pain. When her brother foists him on her as a guardian and slave she must come to terms with her feelings for the dominant warrior. Will she send him away to his death, or will she realize her pain is only caused by living without him?

*Warning: This book contains graphic sex with spanking and anal play

Second Chance At Love: The Princess and the Rogue by Jordan St. Clair

It's Second Chance At Love Month---featuring books that didn't get the love they deserved the first time around. Here's hoping you find some good reading material and decide to give it a Second Chance At Love. Rollin Hand/Jordan St. Clair is here to share a book.

The Princess and the Rogue is a medieval spanking romance with a twisted plot revolving around a riff on the classic tale, The Prince and the Pauper. In it, a princess and an orphan exchange places as part of an elaborate plot to usurp the throne. The book features a wicked countess who is a devotee of the lash, a spoiled and headstrong princess, a wily outlaw, a gentle orphan girl and a stalwart knight. There are two primary romantic pairings and be assured, lots of spanking, sex and BDSM to go with them.

The first time around this book was released as “The Princess and the Outlaw.” For a swashbuckling medieval spanking romance novel sales were a bit tepid. Perhaps readers were wary of investing in a romance written by a man. At any rate, the publisher, Stormy Night, decided to change my pen name to something less masculine and to re-release the book under a new title.

It’s not just a straight re-release, either. There is a new scene and it’s hot. What I can promise the reader is that this book is indeed a romance, not just a spanking and sex odyssey in clanking armor. So, the second time around I’m hoping for a little more love.

Here is the product description:

After she is betrayed by a trusted adviser, taken by force from her palace, and held prisoner by a ruthless countess, Princess Juliet wonders if she will ever see her home again. When a hastily planned escape leaves her lost in the depths of a dark forest, Juliet’s only hope for survival lies with Rand LaFlors, a notorious outlaw who takes it upon himself to aid her.

Though she is accustomed to giving commands rather than obeying them, the princess quickly learns that in this outlaw’s realm disobedience will result in swift chastisement. To her shame and amazement, being taken over Rand’s knee for a bare-bottom spanking fans flames of desire which rapidly burn out of control, and soon Juliet finds herself longing for this roughhewn rogue to claim her and dominate her completely.

Even as her passion grows into love, Juliet knows that she cannot stay in hiding forever, and both she and Rand will need all their wits and all their courage to overcome the traitors who have placed the kingdom in peril. But if they succeed and Juliet reclaims her rightful place on the throne, will the newfound bond between the princess and the rogue still hold fast?

Publisher’s Note: The Princess and the Rogue is an erotic novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, anal play, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book. Also note that this book was previously published under the title The Princess and the Outlaw.

And here is an excerpt:

Within a day’s time, they were to be on the road again, but not before Rand managed to take the princess aside for a private discussion.

“Sister, do you have a place here, out of earshot, where the princess and I might talk?” Rand had addressed the prioress just before they were to leave.

It seemed a reasonable request, but the prioress and Sister Bernice noted that Rand gripped the princess by her upper arm as he spoke. “There are the novice’s cells in the east wing,” she said. “Most are not in use.”

“Thank you,” said Rand. “Come along, princess.”

Rand was aware of the sister’s raised eyebrows as he led the princess away. He supposed the princess’s panicked look must resemble that of a novice caught in some forbidden activity. Well, what she had done was forbidden as far as he was concerned

Rand found a vacant cell, led the princess inside, and sat on a cot. Juliet stood facing him. She had to know she had disobeyed his instructions. Juliet rubbed her arms as if chills crawled up her spine. It was gratifying for Rand to see her suitably worried and hopefully repentant, as she no doubt contemplated the likely consequences. Rand expected his instructions to be obeyed.

“I told you that your identity was to be kept secret until we reached Kingsgate, did I not?”

“Yes, but they were friends. There was no harm done,” said Juliet, pleading her case.

“At the time we did not know that. They could have been anyone.” Rand crossed his arms indicating his annoyance. “Juliet, there are people who would sell you to Morgaine for a farthing. Do you understand that?”

Juliet looked down, not wanting to meet his eye.

“Come here, Juliet.” Rand uncrossed his arms and gestured with his hand. It was time. There was no help for it. Survival of the entire enterprise could depend upon her putting her headstrong nature aside and following instructions.

“Rand, no,” she pleaded, backing away. He rose to insure her obedience, taking her around her waist. He sat back down and flipped her across his knees. In a trice he flung her skirts over her head and drew her drawers down to her knees. It was humiliating for her to be treated so, he realized, but there was no help for it. She deserved the spanking she was going to get. Soon he was gazing at her bare bottom and at her most intimate secrets. For a moment he paused, nearly transfixed by the beauty of Juliet’s charms presented to him in such a submissive posture. He knew what he really wanted to do was plant kisses all over that shapely backside and then make love to her. He sighed. Later. Now he had a job to do. He pursed his lips and steeled himself.

Now Available: Lolly and the Professor

Woohooo! Lolly and the Professor is available a day earlier than expected. Just in time to keep you warm on a cold Sunday.

Available only on Amazon, it can be purchased for 99 cents or borrowed if you are a Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime member.

Here's an excerpt:

Douglas Hollister stood at the podium mentally preparing for his first lecture to a group of new law students. He’d been one of them just a few short years ago, ten to be exact. He thought back to that day with a bit of embarrassment.
He hated to admit it, he thought sheepishly of the young man he’d been, but he was firmly in the hubris category when he’d started law school a decade earlier. He had the combination of natural self-confidence, good grades and a killer LSAT score to give him the boost of bravado he’d needed to actually raise his hand the first day of class and volunteer an answer. Volunteer. In law school. On the first day. Hadn’t he seen any of those law school movies where the professor verbally filleted the fresh-faced and cocky law student who had the balls to volunteer an answer?
Apparently not.  Or if so, he’d had just enough chutzpah to go for it anyway.
He deserved the verbal beat down he got that day. He'd learned a valuable lesson, despite the big chunk of pride it had cost him.
After that he’d kept his mouth closed and his books open. Law review, moot court and a prestigious clerkship with a judge who was a likely Supreme Court nominee followed. After graduation he worked at a major firm in the city until joining the faculty of his alma mater three years before.
Teaching suited him more than he expected. He liked molding eager young minds and the life of a faculty member was much more cerebral than being on the partner track. Schmoozing for clients held no appeal.
            Douglas never begged for anything.
He checked his watch and the classroom clock. Time to begin.
He opened a leather binder in which he’d already written the names of his students—with pencil—and began calling the roll.
            “Anderson, Caroline.” No answer.
He looked up. “Miss Anderson?” His eyes swept across the group before him. Most of the students glanced around the lecture hall for the missing Miss Anderson. A couple met his gaze. The rest kept their eyes glued to their books.
He gave the room one last sweep and returned to his task.
            “Bell, Cha—"
The door swung open and a woman wearing a yellow sundress, high heeled peep-toe shoes, and carrying a giant tote bag in one hand and a monstrous travel mug with a coffee shop logo in the other, entered and made her way down the sloped floor of the lecture hall.
Students turned to gawk. A couple snickered. A few looked horrified. Everyone knew you weren't supposed to be late to class, especially not on the first day.
And nearly everyone glanced at Douglas to gauge his reaction.
Amidst a sea of clutter and clatter, and apparently oblivious to the disruption she caused, the late comer made her way to the front row and arranged her classroom necessities—coffee, lap top, cell phone, and daisy-shaped make up bag̶—on the table in front of her. Once situated, she took a long pull from her travel mug, looked up at Douglas expectantly and smiled.
            “I’m ready now.”
Most of the students did an admirable job of covering their laughter, but a couple guffawed with enough vim to cause her to turn and look behind her.
            “Oh—am I late?”
Douglas felt the corners of his mouth twitch, but he bit his inner cheek. The first moments would set the standard for the entire quarter. He squared his shoulders and took charge of the room.
“Yes, you are. Anyone arriving after I begin taking attendance is late and in this class, late is the same as absent.”
Her lush red lips gaped and her fine brows furrowed in confusion.
            “So…I’m absent?”
            “That's correct.”
            "But, I’m here.”
“Yes you are, but you’re late. So that means you’re absent.”
A young man in the second row whispered, “This is starting to sound like ‘Who’s On First’”. Those in hearing range giggled.
Douglas could feel the class, and his authority, slip away. “You wouldn’t happen to be Miss Anderson, would you?”
Her eyes, a distracting shade of cornflower blue, lit up. “Yes, but everyone calls me Lolly.”
            “Lolly?”
She pulled a Tootsie pop from her cavernous bag, removed the wrapper and placed it against her plump crimson lips. “Lolly. Like in lollipop.”
Douglas watched her work the candy and felt himself getting hard. His budding boner wasn’t helped by the fact that she slanted her eyes to his crotch with a wicked look that told him she knew the affect she had on him.
He gripped the edges of the lectern and reminded himself to stay there until the wood in his pants returned to normal.
“Or lollygagging,” he said, pleased to see the saucy look on her face dissipate.
She pulled the candy from her mouth with a resounding pop and tilted her head at him in a so what are you going to do about it? look.
“There are thirty other students in this class who were able to arrive on time. We have important material to cover today. You and I can discuss your loll—uh, attendance after class.”
She pushed the head of the sucker around the inside of her cheek, causing it to bulge like it was full of…well, you know. She pulled the candy from her mouth, but not without running her tongue around the head…er, top and said “Sure.”
One young man in the third row gasped. “Holy crap.”
Douglas might not have been the only man in the room carrying extra wood

Spanking Stories Book Club: Life's Unexpected Gifts by Livia Grant

Please welcome Cara Bristol to lead this week's discussion of Life's Unexpected Gifts by Livia Grant.

Take it away Ms. Bristol....

I like that author Livia Grant takes risks. She doesn’t write formula, so what you get is something fresh and different. Sometimes uncomfortable, but always fresh. In her Passion series, a husband abandons his wife at a BDSM club to be worked over by a Dom after he discovers her infidelity. In her Corbin’s Bend series book, Life’s Unexpected Gifts, Livia Grant opens with a brother spanking his adult sister. That’s the book up for discussion today.

Life’s Unexpected Gifts blurb
Violence has been part of Hallie Boudreaux’s life for too long. Deciding all men are barbaric abusers, she’s once again on the run away from danger. Desperate to feel safe, if even for a few days, Hallie remembers the only time she had felt truly happy in the last seven years were the summers spent at her Aunt Jenna and Uncle Calbert’s. Taking a chance her aunt might take her in, Hallie points her dilapidated car towards Corbin’s Bend, praying she makes it there before her clunker takes its last gasp.

Troy Jackson can’t wait to surprise his sister on her 30th birthday. He’s recently moved back to Colorado to be closer to his only relative, Traci, a psychologist living in Corbin’s Bend. The surprise is on Troy when his normally conscientious sister runs amok on her big birthday proving that even intelligent, independent women still need the stern guidance of the men in their lives. Having grown up with loving parents who practiced the domestic discipline way of life, both Traci and Troy subscribe to the founding principles of the Corbin’s Bend community wholeheartedly.

Hallie’s family is thrilled to have her in Corbin’s Bend, but can Hallie come to terms with living in a community based on its endorsement of spanking, a practice Hallie sees as abuse. Can Traci’s counseling help her overcome her fear in order to accept her new life in Corbin’s Bend, or is it Traci’s brother who ultimately has the power to show Hallie that not all men are abusers?

11.     The story opens with a brother spanking his adult sister for a serious safety violation—she brought home a man she’d just met and drove home while under the influence of alcohol. Since the father had passed, he took it upon himself to serve as HoH and spank her because their father was no longer alive to do it. Do you think Troy was justified? Did he overstep his bounds?

 2.    Thinking of domestic discipline as a real life lifestyle, do you think it should be limited to husbands/wives and domestic partners or is it okay for another family member to step in and correct another’s behavior? Why or why not?

33.    I think we’re all in agreement here that abuse (beating) is different from spanking/domestic discipline. But, in real life, do you think that someone who had been a victim of domestic violence could come to embrace domestic discipline? Why or why not?

44.     Troy often expresses uncertainty and questions his own actions. And he goes easy on Hallie (discipline wise) because he knows of her abusive past. Does he seem less dominant than if he’d laid down the law, or does it make him more likable as human being?

Excellent questions, as always, Cara. Can't wait to see what everyone has to say.

Cover Reveal: Lolly And The Professor

I have a new book...a short story, that will be available Monday, Febraury 16.

Anthony Walsh, The Cover Artisan, did an oustanding job on this cover.

Professor Douglas Hollister enjoys his reputation as the toughest teacher at his law school.

Second Chance At Love: Learning Trust by Donna Steele

PK Corey is here to nominate Learning Trust by Donna Steele as a book deserving a Second Chance At Love.

I know we all love spanking romance, but realistically that’s not all we read. Learning Trust, a book by Donna Steele, is a story I think the readers of any genre would enjoy – it’s a mystery, a thriller, and had that touch of paranormal that was so very nearly normal. The villain was one of the creepiest I’ve ever read, and could so easily be someone I’ve met. I also loved the setting of the story, by the lake, with the small town atmosphere.

Following a tragic shooting, police psychic Becca Brandywine retreats from everyone to try to recover, both physically and emotionally.  But it’s the loss of her gift, her psychic abilities, that has her the most concerned.

Meeting Mitch Byers, her mechanic and new friend, is scary without the insight she had always had, but his protective concern is charming.  She wants to believe his attraction to her is real.

When a psychotic serial murderer from her past escapes and hunts her down, can she save both Mitch and herself from this monster without her abilities?

Second Chance At Love: Destiny's Chance by Cara Bristol

This month I am featuring books that need a Second Chance At Love, good books that just never found the love they deserve. Today's offering...

Destiny’s Chance by Cara Bristol

Destiny’s Chance never had a chance. Forces conspired against it. Just about everything that could have gone wrong with this book did: it went through several exhaustive rewrites with my publisher, Loose Id didn’t like the title and we went round and round on that, the cover came late (only got it the night before the release) and the book was published the same month as two
other books of mine, so I couldn’t devote as much time to promotion as it deserved.

Published in May 2013, Destiny’s Chance tanked. Even though it contains spanking, even spanking fiction fans ignored it. I don’t think it ever ranked better than 50,000 on Amazon or earned more than a few hundred dollars the first year of its release.

But I think it offers something unique story wise. It’s about finding and achieving your dream when everything conspires against you. Ironic, huh?

Destiny’s Chance blurb

Destiny Grable can’t help that she's fallen in love Chance Everett, her best friend's boyfriend, but she's never, ever acted on her feelings -- until she and Zoe are in a car accident, Zoe is killed, and Destiny is reincarnated in her body. She never wished for something like this to happen, but perhaps now she’ll be free to love Chance the way she always wanted to.

Chance might have had pursued Destiny, but he has a kinky side and she was a nice girl. But now she’s dead, and the accident has forced him to take in his ex-girlfriend. As soon as she recovers and moves out, he’ll get on with his life.

Can two star-crossed lovers ever find happiness?
