This was sort of the opposite of a sexy spanking story. I guess that's why it's called a parody.
Here's a bit of trivia---did you know that when soap operas debuted on the radio years ago, they were originally comedies. But, because comedy is hard to write and keep fresh, they soon became dramas. Writing humor is hard, making it look easy is even harder, so kudos to Sheri for a fun book that made me laugh.
How about the rest of you? Is there a place in spanking land for humor?
Which scenes were your favorites?
Next week---Emma K. Gardner's The Headstrong Miss Henley.
Thank you so much, Celeste, for featuring BFD and for saying all the nice things! So glad you liked the silliness! :) (Hope this departure from real spanking stories, books, etc. doesn't just temporarily kill your blog DEAD! Ack!) Thanks again. Truly grateful.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it. And I'm glad to see a book that doesn't take itself too seriously.
DeleteI find humor in spanking stories to be a refreshing change. There's room for it all: serious DD, erotic spanking, and humor. I have not read Sheri's book yet, but it's on my list.
ReplyDeleteI agree! We need more humor. Besides, sex and spankings can be funny---at least in real life.
DeleteYes! Room for humor! I need some humor. I loved this book and Sheri is a funny chick :)
ReplyDeleteI also felt like I was sharing parts with my husband and he was giving me the "I don't get it." Obviously he's not reading BDSM novels in his free time because the parody was spot on.
And I did know comedy is harder to write than dramas. Had no idea about the soap operas. I always learn something on this blog!
Keep it up Sheri, will there be a BFD 2?? Still Bound and Still Disappointed?
One of the complaints that some people (annoying people) have about erotica is that is creates unrealistic expectations in people who then measure their spouse/partner against those expectations. Well, this book sure makes everyone else look good!
DeleteI love humor, and silliness. It definitely keeps things from getting too uptight and serious.
ReplyDeleteI have read parts of Sheri's book, when she posted the chapters on her blog. They were hilarious!
I can't wait to read the whole book!!
Congratulations!
:)

ReplyDeleteThis book had me cracking up - it should carry a health warning! I love a comedy that makes you take a look at the extremes and find the ridiculous in something normally taken so seriously.
DeleteI love the gasbag who insists on saying Tara's books are a rip-off at 1.99 ... but there is no doubt Sheri Saville's is worth every cent, a riot from beginning to end
I read BFD. What a refreshment. Smiles, laughs and OMG's. My favorite part was the chapter with the gasbag.
ReplyDeleteYa'll are too kind. Blushing over here. GAH! Thank you all SO much. ~~ Sheri
ReplyDeleteI think there's plenty of room for humor in spanking stories. Whenever you get two people together, and they're serious about each other, they make each other laugh. That laughter, those smiles, are relayed to the reader and it's a chain reaction. A parody is all about absurdity, and what could be funnier? Good work, Sheri!
ReplyDeleteI agree that humor can be refreshing in all types of fiction, even murder mysteries, so I think it belongs in spanking fiction, too. Sheri has a wonderfully inventive sense of humor, which is made clear in the excerpts she has shared with us. She's not afraid to point fingers, especially at herself, so parodies are a perfect medium for her. Thanks, Sheri.
ReplyDeleteI loved BFD, and having a laugh at BDSM authors, the scene, the books, etc was a great diversion!
