A big thank you to everyone who weighed in on my title dilemma last week. His Yankee Girl has now been scrapped and I continue to waver between Becoming A Proper Lady and Becoming Lady Amherst.
Wait...I have a new entry in the title sweepstakes:
Lady Amherst's Admonishment
What do you think?

Lady Amherst's Admonishment

This excerpt is from Sarah's wedding night....
He lay next to me and pulled me to his side until we faced each other, his hardness
pressed against the flimsy fabric of my pantalets.
His gaze held mine, and he tapped the tip of my nose. “There is one important rule which you must learn, Lady
Amherst.”
His use of my married name sent a warm thrill through me.
“What rule is that, Lord Amherst?”
“You are never to wear more clothes than me.”
My eyes went wide with such a bold statement, yet I found
the courage to say, “And
what shall happen to me if I break this rule?”
He reached behind me and gave my barely covered hind end a meaningful
squeeze. “We both know my preference for rule enforcement.”
Blurb:
Blurb:
When Miss Sarah McLean causes a scandal in Boston,
her father takes her to London in search of a husband.
At her first party, Sarah insults Lord Amherst who takes her
over his knee to spank some manners into her. When his actions come to light,
Sarah's father offers him a choice: Marry Sarah or send her back to America
where she has no prospects for a husband.
Intrigued by the spirited Yankee Girl, Lord Amherst
proposes.
Despite the circumstances of their marriage, Sarah and
Jeffrey form a bond and appear headed for a bright future.
That is, until Sarah pretends to be someone she's not.
OK, wow, what a place to leave off! I love all the title choices - it's so hard!! I'm curious to see what you decide on!!
ReplyDeleteI have a new title suggestion: An Improper Lady.
ReplyDeleteYou might have a winner there, Cara. Thank you. I've been spinning around about it so much I can't even think straight.
DeleteLove the wide-eyed courageous quandary... and of course his creative and animated answer... *smile*
ReplyDeleteHmm… how much clothing did men wear back then, more than now, but this could be tricky. Now I'm torn between Becoming Lady Amhurst and Cara's suggestion.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the title - it looks delicious to me. This snippet was such a great tease :)
ReplyDeleteI found this quite delicious. Very descriptive and buid up for more yummy things to come.
ReplyDeleteRules involving clothes are so easy to break :-)
ReplyDeleteCute, sexy and fun. I like his type of rules.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a tease! I do love his rule enforcement methods;)
ReplyDeleteloved this snippet!
ReplyDeleteAnd I liked all the titles. Sorry, I'm no help! :)
He sounds so sexy! Sorry I feel to blame for scrapping the other title. These all sound good to me.
ReplyDeleteI like his style. I am not sure what the title should be......the blurb usually gets me more than the title!
ReplyDeleteYummy excerpt, Celeste. Love his teasing here.
ReplyDeleteShe certainly will learn to follow the rules. Nice job.
