A Bit of Blog Remodeling

I did a bit of blog remodeling this weekend. Not a huge amount, but I just wanted to point out a couple things---mostly because I was proud that I figured out how to do it.

At the top of the page I've added some buttons. These will lead you to info about my books, my email address so you can contact me, and links to all my posts that include spanking stories. All of the stories have been broken down into mulitple parts, so you may have to click a few times to read the whole thing...but they're free so don't complain. :)

Just curious---what are the sorts of things that make a blog user friendly and vice versa? Are there any blogs out there that you'd recommend because they are easy to read and navigate? What are some of the things on blogs that you dislike? I don't necessarily mean content, but the packaging. I try not to have too much clutter, but I also want to have easy access to information.

Is a list of popular posts useful? Are you likely to search very far into the history of a blog for more posts or just what's viewable right away?

Just wondering. Looking forward to your thoughts.

  1. Looks awesome, Celeste! Personally I like a list of popular posts - I might look there first and from there go digging into a history of a blog for more.

I haven't forgotten your email, just been super busy or tired. It's coming, I promise!

    1. No worries on the email, Christina. It'll be a treat whenever I hear from you. :)

I agree about the popular posts. It does give a snapshot of what the whole blog is about.

  2. Looks great! I may be the only person to say this but, the print size, and fancy text can make it difficult to read some blogs. I love a solid background behind the text. I also enjoy seeing a blogroll. (I am so thankful to you for helping me set mine up!) When you are first navigating this world you look to what others are reading for suggestions. I also enjoy the buttons on top of the page! The free stories, or where to read what you write- clearly noted is a positive!

    1. Thanks Minelle. I agree about the font size and color. I also think that having blank space is important too. If I see a long post w/no paragraph separations, I might not read it all because it just seems too daunting.

Clicking on a blogroll and then another and another can lead to hours of entertainment or distraction, but also tons of great blogs.

  3. Looks great, Celeste! I like it when blogs have buttons at the top for easy clicking, and I'm working on something similiar with my blog, but I'm a little blogger-impaired so it's slow moving. One thing I like to see on blogs is a list of the most recent blog posts, and of course a blog/favorite website list, which you already have:)

    1. Thanks! It's sort of fun to tinker w/the different options as long as they don't get too aggravating. Like many of the women in my stories...I'm not very patient. LOL

  4. Looks great! Personally, I'm not a fan of having to enter the code to prove I'm not a robot. The ones on blogger are SO hard to read!!

    1. Good point. Is that something that I can change or is that a blogger thing?

    2. You can change it. Under settings/posts and comments/show word verification.
