A Tribute To A Gentleman
We were all very sad to learn of the recent passing of our friend, Rollin Hand.
It seems fitting that most of the tributes to this kind man will be posted on blogs, since he was an avid and prolific blogger who was also generous in supporting other bloggers as well.
Rollin was one of the first people I got to know after I set up my blog. Because we were both lawyers, I think we had a bit of kinship over our mutual wish to write full time and leave the law behind. It's particularly poignant that he had only retired about a year before his death. I remember how happy he was when he announced that he was finally a full-time writer.
Rollin was a gentleman, in the truest sense of the word. He had been writing spanking stories for years before most of the rest of us came along and started publishing books. I'm not sure if I can say this exactly the right way, but here goes. In my experience, there are few men who can watch a group of women have success (often more than him) in the same field and not act like a jerk about it.
Rollin was a rare exception. Always a gentleman, he cheered and congratulated and encouraged. He was never bitter or condescending or unkind.
I'm so sorry that I never told him any of those things before he died.
I guess he is still teaching me things...
There are other bloggers who will be posting tributes today and there will be links on Facebook. If you are a blogger and would like to post your own tribute, please feel free to do so. This is not an exclusive event...no prizes for comments, no Rafflecopters...just something we've tried to put together to honor a member of our community.
Please feel free to share your own thoughts on Rollin in the comments.
I encourage you to visit his blog or Amazon author page to learn more about him.
