Spanking Stories Book Club Sweet Salvation by Maddie Taylor

Welcome to Spanking Stories Book Club. Today we are talking about Maddie Taylor's Sweet Salvation.

Fresh out of college and looking to escape her painful past in Atlanta, Stacy Altman is in Detroit for an interview when a drop dead gorgeous doctor literally runs right into her. Two years later, when the same man—wealthy surgeon Jared Baker—plows through a door and collides with her again, this time injuring her knee in the process, it seems that fate has plans for the unlikely pair.

To atone for his carelessness, Dr. Baker decides to personally tend to his newfound “Georgia Peach”. As her doctor, Jared instructs Stacy to rest up until she can walk again… and as the firm, loving man she has long needed in her life, he informs her that she can expect to be taken over his knee for a spanking if she disregards her doctor’s orders.

Stacy soon lands a promotion and her life in Detroit becomes everything she hoped it would be, but even after Jared asks her to be his wife, it becomes more and more difficult for her to hide from the trauma she hoped she had left behind in Georgia. Can Jared’s love prove to be the sweet salvation she so desperately needs?

Publisher’s Note: Sweet Salvation is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, anal play, graphic sexual scenes, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Questions: One of the reviews said "not much conflict". Sweet Salvation featured a young heroine whose parents were killed in a violent car crash with a drunk driver. At the young age of 21 she had to go alone to the police station to identify the body of her father. This traumatic event caused subsequent nightmares, and PTSD type of symptoms and panic. The story talks about her lonliness and how she has had to deal with her trauma alone, until she finds her man who through love and support and firm discipline, helps her move on past her trauma. Hm... no real conflict. How much conflict is too much in a spanking romance? Is there such a thing? I have been critiqued on the other end of the spectrum for having to much. What is the correct balance in your opinion?

#2: This question comes from another review. There is a scene where the heroine after a near miss sledding accident, decides it will be funny to kid around with her man and her 2 good friends by making a joke about being injured when she is not. A subsequent bare bottomed spanking ensues, on the sled hill although he makes sure no one sees except the 2 good friends who are both spankos and understand the DD dynamic. Too much? How do you feel about a public spanking?

#3 I have two sexy doctors in the book and it was suggested that a medical play scene would have fit right in. How do you feel about medical play? Are there things that are just too "yucky" for a romance? I'm a nurse so it tends to all make me go "ew" that too much like work, but I know all the mechanics. Would you like to see a medical scene in this type of book?

4 There is an unresolved relationship in this book between the H/h best friends. I plan a sequel. The main characters love story had resolution, how do you feel when secondary characters stories are still up in the air at the end? Angry? Curious? Eager to get the next book? Ticked off and swearing you won't buy it out of spite?

Excerpt:
“You got spanked over a flat tire?”
“Well, not exactly for the tire. I forget to charge my cell phone and on the way back from visiting my mom, I had the flat.”
“Okay, not charging your phone is bad, but I wouldn’t think that deserved a spanking. Was this a real spanking or a sexy spanking?”
“It felt like a real one to me, and Stacy, he made me stand in the corner afterward and think about it.
“Well, now I’m getting pissed. That was overreacting, don’t you think?”
“Tell her the rest, cara.” Both of their heads whipped around to see the guys, bare-chested in nothing but their swimming trunks, lounging against the railing with arms crossed as they casually listened.
“How long have you two been standing there?” Stacy demanded of Jared.
“Let’s see, it was about the time you called me ‘annoying sometimes, but mostly really sexy.’ I definitely heard about all of those ‘you knows.’” He smiled as she flushed crimson. “What about you, Marc?”
He looked at Jared with a grin. “I came in when your half-pint girlfriend called me Dr. Bossy Hunk Millionaire, didn’t I? Thanks for that by the way, Stace.”
Jared chuckled.
Stacy buried her face in her hands and mumbled, “Take me now, Jesus,” under her breath.
Marc said, “Don’t go until Jessie explains, Stace. Tell her why else you earned that spanking, bella mia.”
“Do I have to?”
All three of them answered, “Yes!”
“Well… I was headed home from my mother’s at about nine o’clock when I had a blowout on I-75. Already late for my date with Marc, I had no way to call him so he wouldn’t worry, no way to call roadside assistance either. I didn’t know how to change a tire, so when a nice man offered, I let him.”
“Oh, no, Jess. Tell me you didn’t get out of your car.”
“Okay, I won’t.”
“But she did. And that is why your best friend, my naughty new girlfriend earned a well-deserved butt roasting.”
“I’d have spanked you too, Jess.” This came from Stacy.
“Me too,” added Jared.
“Me three,” added Jessie ruefully. “I learned my lesson, believe me.”
Marc walked over and bent down, sealing his lips to hers in a very soft-looking kiss. Very nice, Stacy thought, as she watched it all happen. She smiled, happy for her friends.

Spanking Stories Book Club: The Second Notebook of Emily Orn Wilkes

I reviwed Emily Tilton's The Second Notebook of Emily Orn Wilkes for Spanking Romance Reviews. You can read that post here.

Emily Tilton's Explorations Series follows Victorian Era Emily as she is trained and prepared to enter the Great Drama of BDSM. Emily's family is deep in debt and has basically traded her off to Mr. Wilkes. I have not read all of the First Notebook, (though I want to) which follows Emily as she is trained by Mrs. Smith to be a submissive bride who knows how to please her husband.

Here is part of my review from Spanking Romance Reviews:

The story opens on the morning of Emily's wedding, though she quickly reflects back to events of the day before and we are transported to a room at  Smith's where Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Harrah, presumably two middle aged women, fit the soon to be bride with an aide-mari (which  seems to be a sexy lacy Victorian thong).

Should I be turned on by the idea of two matrons fitting up the "charms" of a young virgin and then photographing her in various poses which were ordered by her husband?

Well, whether I ought to have been or not…I was and I kept sneaking away from what I was supposed to be doing to read more and more of this engaging, erotic story.

Questions for Discussion:

1. What would you think if you found your great-great-grandmother's journals and learned she was one kinky lady?

2. Have you read scenes or topics that you thought you wouldn't enjoy, but just the opposite happened? Care to share?

3. What is it about being prepared to serve a man and submit to him, that is such a turn on? Aren't we all independent women who make our own decisions?

4. In one scene, the butler enters the bedroom where Emily and her husband are recovering from their first (or third, I can't remember. There was a lot of sex on their wedding night) and Emily's husband says something like "Isn't my bride delightful" to the butler, gesturing to his naked bride (I think he's holding her, but it's clear what's going on.) Although I'd be horrified by something like that in real life, I wasn't when I read about it. What is it about being on display or shown off by your man that is such a turn on? (At least reading about it).

5. Question for Emily---I loved the language you used. How did you get that "voice" into your head? Or do you talk like that all the time?

Hi! I'm...um...my name is...ah... Celeste: Being "Me" at #RT2014

I'm sure you all realize Celeste Jones isn't my real name. In fact, I rarely say the name out loud and only occasionally will my husband call me Celeste.

So, imagine the awkward moment when I was waiting in line for a taxi from the airport and I asked the two nice ladies behind me (Kacey Hamill and JoAnne Kendrick, two new friends) if I could share a cab with them. Once they'd eyed me and decided I was harmless (this was before I wore my clothes backward) they introduced themselves.

I went blank. Do I give them my real name? My first name? I was there as author Celeste Jones, but I'd never introduced myself that way before.

Guess what? I stammered and hemmed and hawed and finally said "I'm Celeste. I, uh...write kinky stories."

They still let me in the cab with them.

For the next several days I was known as Celeste. At first I continued the stammering introduction, but eventually I got used to it and even gave people the cards I had printed with the Spanking Stories Book Club logo.

How about you? Have you ever said "Hello, my name is [insert pen name or spanking blogger identity]"?

How did it feel?

Were you calm, cool, and collected or did you stammer and blush?

#RT2014--Is This The Best Venue For Spanking Writers?

I went to NOLA not sure what to expect, but I told myself that if all I got to do was meet up with a few spanking writers, it would be worth it. And it was. Totally.

Other highlights:

  • If you've been following my blog and Facebook posts, you know that my husband and I recently moved in with my parents, so a few days away and a hotel room to myself was priceless.

  • Being able to spend long leisurely meals talking about writing, books, marketing and getting to know people that I've otherwise only "met" via email or Facebook.

  • The sheer spectacle of the whole event---hundreds of (mostly) women talking, laughing and having a great time.

  • Great food in the French Quarter.

  • Everyone was very friendly and even casual conversations with people I just happened to sit down next to were interesting and beneficial.

  • Talking with Bethany Burke, the owner of Blushing Books, about the "business" side of things. She is a fount of information and shared generously.
I'm sure there are many more things to list, but I'm still recovering. I think you get the idea.

But, as a spanking fiction writer, is this the best venue? Sure, it was fun and informative, but were the readers there likely to buy spanking fiction? It's hard to say, but in general the conference was geared toward "Romance" in all it's permutations, but I didn't really see too much about anything kinky. I might have missed it.

I would have liked more reader interaction, but that might have been my fault since I didn't attend the book fair on Saturday. Sue Lyndon and Cara Bristol had a table on Friday morning where readers could meet them and while I was there, I met one reader who was very nice. Maybe she's even visiting my blog now (I gave her my ticket to the goody room and felt good about that because she was pretty excited).

Here's what Cara Bristol says: I think RT can be worthwhile, but like everything else, it depends on what you put into it. It is SO big, so chaotic that one's efforts can become lost among all the books, authors, swag, and advertising.  The amount of "stuff" is overwhelming and it is hard for any one  author to stand out.

But, having attended last year and again this year, I saw incremental improvements in my presence. Last year, nobody (other than the people I had arranged to meet in advance) came up to me and introduced themselves. This year, quite a few people did -- and I think face to face contact is beneficial for building relationships.

My spanking spoons were a huge hit, and hopefully stuck in people's minds. I don't think giving away a pen is the way to go.One's SWAG has to be stand out.  I participated in the Book Fair for the first time and found it beneficial -- not to sell books--but to have a presence. This is when most of the readers come in. You have to have good SWAG. If I did RT again, I would do the Book Fair.

What I didn't like about the Book Fair was that RT relegates ebook authors to a second class status. Indies and epubbed authors were grouped together in a smaller room and squeezed three to a table. The print authors had much more space in the "Grand" ballroom. Why not just put everyone together alphabetically? If they have to split the alphabet into two rooms, so be it.

Spanking fiction has no presence at RT--but I think it could -- if more authors and readers made it a priority. As you know, Bethany of Blushing Books is trying to break in.

Would I do RT again? I'm on the fence. Before I did, I would like to try a smaller conference and compare the two.

What about the rest of you who attended? Do you think that RT is the best venue for spanking writers?

**Update*** Check out Cara Bristiol's Blog today for more of her thoughts on the conference. Click here.

#RT2014 Meeting My Fellow Spanking Writers

What a week! I left last Tuesday for New Orleans and Romance Times Convention 2014, commonly referred to as RT2014. This was my first convention and it was quite an experience. I'll probably write a few more posts just to keep my thoughts a bit more organized. I arrived in NOLA (that's what people in the know call New Orleans, Louisiana) excited and nervous. I had plans to meet up with (and spend significant time, hopefully) with Cara Bristol, Sue Lyndon and Alta Hensley, as well as a few others who I knew would be there.

So, what's it like to "meet" someone with whom you've emailed, blogged and written anthologies...but never spoken to or seen in person. Logically, I knew they had to be nice people and that we'd get along, but still, I wondered...will they like me? Will I talk too much (the answer to that is always yes)? Am I wearing the right clothes?

You know...like a blind date.

I arrived at my hotel and rested a bit before the big meet up. I had been shopping quite a bit (at least by my standards) to assure the appropriate clothing for the festivities. Tuesday night was to be dinner at Saints and Sinners with the folks from Blushing Books, incluidng Bethany Burke (owner), her staff members Joey and Allison and assorted writers, but more on that later. I had a nice white cotton blouse with some lacey sort of cut outs which I wore as a jacket over black pants and a black top. Pretty basic, but I thought it looked nice.

When I'd tried the blouse/jacket on at home it had sometimes felt a bit tight in the arms, but I twisted and pulled and it worked out. It seemed odd that the tag was in the front, near the buttons, but I assumed that was because it would look funny sticking out of the lacey detail in the back. As I checked myself out in the mirror before heading off to wow my new friends, I noticed an odd detail in the back...darts.

Yes, I was wearing my "jacket" backwards. But in my defense---who'd wear a blouse that buttons down the back?

I considered changing, but by then my fashion sense was depleted and so I went with my usual life plan of "Oh, what the hell" and ventured out in my reversed-wear to impress my fellow writers and all of Bourbon Street.

Sue Lyndon texted that she'd arrived and was waiting to check-in. I stood near the check-in line and texted "wave, so I know who you are", a sort of frightened looking woman in a cute dress turned and looked around. She probably noticed my backward clothing, but still waved, so we nervously hugged and said hello.

This may come as a surprise, but when I'm nervous, I talk even more. Neat.

Next, I left Sue to finish checking in and went to Cara Bristol's room. When she let me in I jabbered and explained the backward jacket and who knows what else I said. I suspect it might have been a bit much, but well, I don't get out much.

Cara was lovely and gracious and did not jabber at all.

Eventually we all met up in the lobby, including Alta Hensley, and ventured out to Bourbon Street and Saints and Sinners, where we had dinner with Bethany Burke, Joey and Allison of Blushing Books, Paige Tyler and her husband, Maren Smith, her two sisters and her father (they dumped us for a Ghost Tour. I wondered if it was due to my backward clothing...), Isabella Kole and her assistant.

With such a large group it was tricky to talk to everyone, but it was nice to put faces with names.

The only other thing I remember from that night is that Alta Hensely attracts weirdos on the street.

More tomorrow.

#Spanking Stories Book Club: Playing With Fire by Ruth Staunton

Please welcome Adaline Raine...Take it Away Addy!

Hi! I am super excited to be leading the discussion on Ruth Staunton's latest release Playing with Fire.
Blurb:
Stacey Reinhardt is a 22-year-old small town girl - the quintessential rebel. She loves to party and is a serial dater. Most of her relationships, if they can be called that, are one night stands or casual flings. No commitment, no strings. She meets Sheriff's Deputy Cade Dawson in a bar and is immediately intrigued by him, but Cade wants nothing to do with her. He's attracted to her, but knows she's the type of woman he doesn't need. She's a flirt and a partier used to a string of one night stands, and he's an old-fashioned man with old-fashioned ideas. He believes in respecting and protecting women. He demands loyalty and faithfulness, and he spanks. As a joke, he dares Stacey to try dating only one man for a month. She accepts and chooses him.
Much too both their surprise, they quickly find their joke relationship turning into more. Cade makes no bones about the fact that he believes in protecting women and in old-fashioned values and won't hesitate to enforce his expectations by way of a sound spanking if necessary. At first, Stacey dismisses this as an occasional thing and no big deal, but then her old ways begin to resurface, and she suddenly comes face-to-face with the fact Cades expectations and methods are very real. He will hold her accountable and spank her, and he honestly expects her to change her behavior.
Will the wild child be able to change her ways for an old-fashioned spanking man, or will her rebel spirit and the pressure and rumors of a small town tear them apart?

Thoughts for Discussion:
  1. Most of the books I read in a M/f relationship the male is the one who introduces domestic discipline as a lifestyle. Usually it starts out as a threat and is enacted after choices are made. (Irrational, rash, or otherwise)
Do you like this type of dynamic? How would you feel if the disciplined partner requested it?

  1. This story mainly involved Cade holding Stacey accountable via spanking but also has him in charge of a child who needs to be watched and disciplined. Do you think it matters if a sub-plot involves actual parental discipline? In my opinion it just made Cade more of a respectable family man. Thoughts?

  1. More than once Stacey's wild ways get her into trouble. Do you like when the more submissive partner is tamed or keeps a spark? I love her personality and the fact that she pushes makes for great sexual tension.
  2. There is a nice balance of romance and spankings but how much is too much? Would you rather have a ton of romance with only a few sessions sprinkled in or lots of spanking with less focus on a relationship?
  3. Any other thoughts? I enjoyed these characters immensely and I hope to see them in the future.

Thank you Celeste for having me over!

Thank you, Addy!

Spanking Stories Book Club--La Forge by Rollin Hand

Let's give a big Spanking Stories Book Club Welcome to Ken Charles who is here today to talk about Rollin Hand's LaForge.

You can find out more about Ken on his blog by clicking here. But first, let's get to the discussion of
LaForge by Rollin Hand

 Take it away Ken....

LaForge,a trilogy of interconnected spanking stories, make up this novella length romantic tale that is in parts, a domestic idyll, a love story and a supernatural thriller. At nearly 40,000 words, LaForge is a trilogy of erotic spanking stories that collectively make up a long novella with multiple characters, plot lines and action sequences beloved of spankophiles, all layered onto an exciting story arc.

Part 1, The Farm of the Delphian Sisterhood, introduces Sam Reilly, a retired ex Marine, to the Delphian Sisterhood, a group of four beautiful but mysterious women quietly tending a farm in Western Pennsylvania. As a neighbor on an adjacent farm, Sam assumes the role of protector and guardian for the four women. But as he learns, his role entails much more. He is protector, lover and frequently, disciplinarian, for the sisters have a need for a strong man who will dispense domestic discipline in order to maintain domestic harmony.

In Part 2, LaForge, the remote alpine village of LaForge is introduced. Bridget O’Brien, a sculptress, has fled New York for a simpler life and hopes to find it in LaForge, a village known for its artist colony feel. A chance meeting with the deputy constable, Tom McRae, leads to a budding romantic involvement she hadn’t anticipated. But carrying that relationship forward may mean accepting Tom’s notion of domestic discipline, and will call for her participation in an ancient Rite, one that requires bravery and sacrifice. But the Rite itself reveals an awakening threat, one poised to strike at the heart of LaForge.

Part 3, Thermopolis Springs, brings Sam Reilly to LaForge seeking the Delphian Sisterhood. With him is Racheal Greene, a reknown physicist, searching for her lost sister, last seen in the care of the Delphian sisters. The pair must team up with Tom and Bridget, not only to find Rachael’s sister, but to defeat a dark legacy and prevent a catastrophe from destroying LaForge itself. It means going under cover into the heart of a cult of cruelty, one that employs the rod and the lash to achieve its ends.

~*~

LaForge presents the reader with a nice assortment of M/f
corporal punishment, ranging from simple over-the-knee hand spanking to restrained ritual public flogging. As one would expect, the severity of the scenes varies with both the instruments used and the nature of the punishment being exacted. Although there are no descriptions of any blood being drawn, some of the scenes leave the victims wealed and scourged, and are harsh enough that breaking the skin could be an expected consequence of the punishment.

How severe a corporal punishment is too severe? Do you read through severe scenes or skip ahead?

Although there are a number of strong female characters, the stories are unapologetically male chauvinistic. The men are all strong of body, mind and character. The women have different talents and inner strengths, but all share a submissive deference to male authority. Accordingly, the heroes set the rules, and heroines either follow them or ignore them at their corporal peril. When a punishment is earned, it is firmly delivered without debate.

Is the submission of the heroines credible? Why does an intelligent, talented woman willingly submit to a disciplinary spanking?

The punishment scenes are nicely spaced. The lead up to each punishment is sufficient to build the reader’s anticipation without losing the reader’s attention. The descriptions of the punishments are of sufficient detail and duration that the reader is satisfied that justice has been met.

What elements do you look for in a satisfying corporal punishment scene? Do you want to witness the misconduct, or can the author get away with indirect action and merely recite the reasons for discipline? Scolding or lecturing—before? During? After? Should a spanking start over clothes, or go straight to bare bottom discipline? How often should a spanking scene end in sex?

If you are looking for an enjoyable MF spanking tale, I recommend LaForge with two caveats. First, some of the punishment scenes are fairly heavy. Be prepared to gloss over these scenes if heavier punishments are not to your tastes. Second, the story would benefit from good proof-reading and editing. If you are easily distracted or annoyed by a missing word, spacing or punctuation issue, then you might have a harder time enjoying the story.

Even major releases from top publishers have errors. But how much does the editing and physical presentation of a story affect your enjoyment?

Maddie Taylor Shares Sweet Salvation, Dirty Jobs and Staying Up Late

Maddie Taylor has yet another new release, Sweet Salvation, and she's here today to answer my grueling questions.

Celeste Jones: Maddie, you are incredibly prolific, not just with the number of books you produce but also the length. How do you get so much done?

Maddie Taylor:   Honestly?  I don’t sleep.  I am a chronic insomniac only sleeping about 4 hours a night, on a good night.  About once a month, I will splurge on sleep and clock 6 hours.  I’m such a glutton.

Celeste Jones: You also write in a variety of genres within spanking fiction---historical, western, time travel, Club Decadence. Have I left any out? Do you have a favorite? Is there another type of story you'd like to try?

Maddie Taylor:   I also wrote The Gift which was a paranormal/detective thriller.  I enjoyed that but I don’t think I have a favorite.   I like the challenge of different genres.   If I get bored with one era, for example 2014, I can hope on over to 1872 and play for a while.  I find it rejuvenates me.  I have a file of at least 16 ideas at any given time.  There are two science fictions in there.  I haven’t given that a try.

Celeste Jones: Do you work on more than one book at a time?

Maddie Taylor:   Yes.  I recently had three at about 75% complete.  It happens that way sometimes.  They will all be released within a few weeks of each other I’m sure, which makes it feast or famine sometimes.

Celeste Jones: What's next?

Maddie Taylor:   June 1st will be another compilation for Blushing Books.  This time it is a western themed boxed set with five other authors, all set in 1872.  Mine is titled The Juniper Bride.  I love a good western romance.
Unbind My Heart, Club Decadence 4 is in beta now so it will be out soon.  It’s Master Jonas’ story.  He is a Shibari Master… Yummy!
I also have a beach read I am working on with a new author friend of mine.  Probably out by July 1.
I’m also working on a sequel to Marshal’s Law.  This will be Heath’s story.  I figured while I’m in 19th century western mode, I should carry on with that theme.
So, there is an example to the previous question if I work on more than one book at a time.

Celeste Jones: What's the worst job you ever had?

Maddie Taylor:   OMG, how much time do you have?  I am a registered nurse by day, can we talk?  LOL  I remember one shift I had almost every body fluid spewed, spilled or splashed on me: urine, feces, blood, saliva…  I know it sounds like a BDSM club scene but it was at the hospital.
Now I do case management, thank goodness, but I paid my dues.  It is a rewarding career and I met/helped many wonderful people along the way, but it is not for the faint of heart or the weak of body or spirit.  Twelve hours shifts are torture, I’d rather take a good long flogging.  For reals!

Celeste Jones: Share something that's on your bucket list.

Maddie Taylor:   Hawaii.  ‘Nough said?

Celeste Jones: Which is worse---editing or housework?

Maddie Taylor:   Ha!  Great question.  My beloved husband got me a cleaning service for my last birthday.  Every Monday the busy little bees descend on Castle Taylor for a thorough cleaning so the queen can do the editing which is definitely worse.  If I didn’t have my domestic goddesses every week, it would definitely be housework.  UGH!

Celeste Jones: Anything else you'd like to share?

Maddie Taylor:   Yes!  It has been a whirlwind first year for me.  Can you believe that with the release of Sweet Salvation, I have eleven individual titles and two boxed sets in publication.  Am I dreaming, Celeste?  If so, don’t pinch me.  I’d rather stay in dreamland, thank you very much.
I have tremendous support from my readers and appreciate all the IM’s, emails and blog posts that they take time to send.  It always gives me a chill when someone takes the time to tell me they liked one of my stories.  Thank you all.

Thank you too, Celeste.  You befriended me early on and have always been helpful with a blog post, a suggestion, or to answer a question.  Many in our author community give back this way and it is greatly appreciated.  Thanks for having me on today.

Aww. Thanks, Maddie. My pleasure.

Excerpt:
She gave him a watery smile and kissed him, a soft touch of her lips. That wouldn’t do for him, she knew. The gleam in his eyes told her as much. This had been hard on him too and he needed a little TLC to ease him. That she could do. Her lips brushed his again, her tongue slipping out to lick along the seam, imitating what he did to her so often. He softly growled his approval and she smiled, lowering her head, offering him more, happy to be able to give him this pleasure. Evidently, her initiation of the kiss was all the go-ahead he needed, because he took over.
He rolled them until her back found the softness of the bed. Never breaking contact, his heated gaze seared into her as he adjusted his clothes and surged inside her. As always, his size made her gasp at first, until she became accustomed to him. She expected hard and fast, but she thought wrong. This time their loving was slow with a burning intensity she hadn’t felt before. His big body wrapped around her, one hand tight in her hair, the other burrowing underneath until his arm encircled her hips. His broad chest above her, their legs entwined. He enveloped her and his message was clear. Not only did he possess her body, but he also surrounded her with the power of his protection, his strength and love a barrier erected to keep her safe in all ways, but especially against the horrors of her past. With him, she could surrender and lower her shields.
He didn’t need to, but he whispered it anyway. “You’re safe with me, baby, always.”
Those words alone could have made her come, but this was Jared. His husky voice and seductive scent, his hard body embracing her as he stroked slowly, his cock surging deep inside, this was all Jared. He overwhelmed her senses, making the ordinary extraordinary and making her orgasm all the more spectacular as they reached their climax together.

Spanking From A To Z Blog Challenge

Spanking Romance Reviews is hosting a blog challenge in June---use each letter of the alphabet as a theme for your blog posts during the month of June. I'm looking forward to it and I hope you'll consider participating too.

Here are the details:

Spanking From A to Z Blog Challenge FAQ

What is the Spanking From A to Z Blog Challenge?

The Spanking from A to Z Blog Challenge is a group event for any spanking blogger who would like to participate. The challenge is to blog for 26 days in June, 2014 using a different letter of the alphabet as a theme for your blog posts.

Can you explain that a bit more?

Sure. Each letter of the alphabet corresponds to a day of the month. On June 1, your blog should have A as the theme. B on June 2 etc.

Does each post have to be about spanking?

No! This is an opportunity to share all sorts of things. Got a great recipe for Apple Pie? You could post it on June 1 with A or on the 16th for P or the 4th (D is for dessert) or 25th (Y for Yummy). Use your imagination!

Do I have to post every day?

It's not required to participate, but it is encouraged. We are more interested in participation than in making a bunch of rules.

There are 30 days in June and only 26 letters in the alphabet.

Excellent point. One option would be to post June 1-26. Another option would be to take the 4 Saturdays in June off from the alphabet challenge, thus leaving 26 days for blogging. If you do that, then instead of blogging the letter that corresponds to the day of the month, just continue on from where you left off.

Can I still participate in Saturday Spankings or other weekly events?

Sure. You can either skip Saturdays (see the question right above this) or incorporate the letter for the day into your post. For example, the letter for Saturday June 7 would be G. Just think of the possibilities---giggle, gasp, grab, grip, goose, girl. Get the idea? If you want to participate in another weekly event or you have a weekly event on your blog, please don't let that keep you from participating in the alphabet challenge when you can or, incorporate it into the post.
For example---On June 13 Spanking Stories Book Club will be discussing Terran by Cara Bristol. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet…and coincidentally the hero of the book is named Marlix. Ta-da! Easy peasy.
This is meant to be a fun community event, not a homework assignment that gives you headaches. J

Is this a blog hop? Do I have to offer a prize?

No, this is not a blog hop. It's more of a community event and a way to challenge ourselves as bloggers to post more often and maybe a bit more creatively. (Not that there aren't plenty of creative bloggers out there.)

Do I have to visit all the other blogs?

No. That would be quite a burden (we are hoping for big participation, after all). But, we do suggest that you take this opportunity to visit some blogs that you don't usually visit. Maybe you could visit one new blog each day, though that is not a requirement.

Do I have to be a writer to participate?

No! This event is open to all spanking bloggers. There're no criteria other than that you have a blog (or maybe this will inspire you to start one) and that you consider yourself to be a part of the spanking blogger community.

How do I sign up?

Spanking Romance Reviews is hosting this event. Click here to go to the linky list.

Other than using letters of the alphabet for the theme, are there any other requirements for my posts?

Yes, if possible please include either the linky list or a link to the list of participating blogs on Spanking Romance Reviews to encourage visitors to your blog to stop by other blogs. We'd also like you to include the logo in your posts and if possible post the logo on your blog with a link to the sign up at Spanking Romance Reviews.

Is there a deadline for signing up?

June 30th would probably be too late to participate.

I'm sort of new to blogging and I have some technical questions. Can someone help me?

If you use Blogger, please feel free to email Celeste Jones at celestejones215@rocketmail.com Please write "Blogger question" or something similar in the subject line of your email.

Hope you'll join the fun!

P.S. Kudos to Anthony Walsh of The Cover Artisan for the wonderful Logo for this event.

#Spanking Stories Book Club---Commander's Slave by Sue Lyndon

TGIF!

My apologies for my lack of blogging lately, but I'm here and excited to talk about Commander's Slave by Sue Lyndon.

Blurb: Only the fiercest alien warrior can tame her human heart…

After the destruction of the peace treaty between Earth and the invading Kall, First Daughter of the United States Betsy Carson is convicted for crimes she did not commit in an act of political revenge. Sentenced to a lifetime of slavery on the Kall homeworld, she expects the rest of her days to be a constant struggle for survival, and when she finds herself naked on the auction block, staring into the eyes of a disgusting Kall who’s made the opening bid, she prays for anything but the misery and despair of being his. Fortunately, he’s outbid by a gentle, older man, who brings her to his mountain home as a gift for his brother, a fierce Kall warrior who loathes humans and blames them for the deaths of his wife and sons in the war with Earth. Her hopes to be left alone by her new master are dashed when he orders her to sleep in his bed, and she soon discovers disobedience will earn her a firm, bare-bottom spanking from the strong warrior.

Commander Edek enjoys disciplining the spirited Betsy, who grows more eager to submit to his dominance and obey his demands. And he finds owning a petite human slave has other benefits as well. Her silken red hair, sparkling blue eyes, and soft curves entice him to forget the past, and her sweet presence calms the storm of grief raging in his heart. But his new world is shattered when he arrives home one day to find her missing, and Edek’s skills as a Kall warrior are put to the ultimate test…

I keep saying that I'm not a Sci-Fi fan but then I read Cara Bristol's Breeder (and loved it) and now Commander's Slave has got me all hot and bothered too. Look at me, expanding my horizons!

Thoughts for Discussion:

1. Though I don't have vast experience reading Sci-Fi (is this distopian? What does that mean?) it seems like in the future Earth is pretty weak and people are rather cruel. Do you really think this is what the future holds or is it just hard to get into a story about peace, love and harmony?

2. Betsy, the daughter of the president of the US, is sentenced to a life of slavery. What is it about the slavery fantasy/trope that is so appealing?

3. At the slave auction, Besty is bought by Lanzo as a gift for his younger brother. Lanzo is older, gentle, kind and wise. Commander Edek shares some of his older brother's characteristics, but he's also a fierce warrior (and a rather ardent lover). Seems like Betsy has the best of both worlds (though there is no romance with Lanzo). If you had to choose only one of the brothers, who would you choose?

4. Cara Bristol, in her review on Amazon, said that she thought this book had a bit of an age-play tone. What do you think?

5. Betsy is 26 and a virgin. Did that surprise you?

6. If Commander Edek had actually seen battle against the humand and taken human lives, would you have liked him less? Do you think this would have made his relationship with Betsy more difficult?

Any other thoughts on this book?
