It's Party Time and I'm Giving Away Amazon Gift Cards

Welcome to Celeste's Book Party! Thank you for coming. Instead of asking all my guests to bring a covered dish (though feel free), I am asking you to post (in the comments) the blurb of a book you would like to read. And if you're feeling fancy, you can post a bit about why the book appeals to you.

This party lasts all week and I'll be drawing randomly between now and October 10 for $5 Amazon gift cards so the winners can buy the books they want to read.

Tell your friends!

  1. Here I am, the first one to the party--again. Note to self: practice becoming fashionably late. Thank you for the invitation, Celeste! The blurb party idea is so cool!

One of the books on my TBR list is HANDLING STORMY by Patricia Green.
Blurb: Fledgling attorney, Stormy Stillwater, wants to make a name for herself with her first case, a dispute over ranch water rights and a bourbon distillery. It's going to be tough: the opposing attorney is successful Las Vegas lawyer, Jeff Hand. Unfortunately, he is also the guy she met at her brother's wedding and with whom she had her first one-night stand. She's incredibly embarrassed and yet remains super-attracted to Jeff. In spite of the fact that sleeping with opposing counsel is a WAY big no-no, she falls into bed with him again all too easily.

Jeff, for his part, is taken with Stormy at the outset and tries to show her that his feelings go far beyond a one-night stand. He couldn't understand why she disappeared the night after the wedding, or why she's so elusive now. He can't keep his hands off her, or she him, and it seems like they're in bed every other minute. So why the cold feet where he's concerned?

As if they didn't already have enough complications, Jeff has some very old-fashioned ideas about curbing unwanted behavior, even in grown women. And if there ever was a woman who needed a few trips over a guy's knee, it's Stormy. Stormy, who knows perfectly well she should run screaming from anyone who thinks like this, finds herself incredibly intrigued... and turned-on.

Will Jeff be able to get Stormy out of the bedroom long enough to convince her to take a chance on love?

This book appeals to me for several reasons: one, I like the embarrassment factor that she'd had a one night stand with the guy and now has to face him again. And I like that they are opposing counsel. The work-related trope where two competitors face off has always been a favorite,

  2. I just love this idea, Celeste! My current most anticipated book on my to read list is being released next week. It's Breeder by Cara Bristol. Here is the blurb:

To secure his legacy, Commander Dak, a ruling Alpha of planet Parseon, purchases Omra, a breeder slave. He intends to impregnate her, produce a son, and hand her off to his anointed beta partner. As Dak and Omra discover a sexual bliss banned by law, he begins to question Protocol-sanctioned male domination, causing him to jeopardize his command and endanger the life of the woman he has come to love.

Breeder explores the concepts of gender roles and social prohibitions against deviant behavior. It includes graphic M/F and some M/M sexual content and domestic discipline.

I just love the mix of sci-fi & spanking romance. Other than mixing paranormal & spanking romance it is my favorite genre mix. This book sounds different than anything I have ever read. It also seems to push my boundaries a little bit & I love anything that does that. I am very much looking forward to exploring the world that Cara Bristol has created in this book!

    1. That one is on my list to Corrine and I'm not usually sci-fi reader but I am intrigued.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing!

  4. Ooh! What a great idea - I have the feeling I will come out of this with a longer TBR list though as more people add their suggestions.

Okay, I had to go through my 'i want' and TBR lists to see which one I would post. I have the feeling this will become a long list of fiction books which is great, but right now, I am reading a book called "1948 Lessons - Complete" which is the complete lessons as taught by Neville Goddard in one of his seminars in the year 1948.

In these five lessons, Neville, teaches about "The Law" and how anyone can have their 'wish fulfilled' by using their imagination.

So far? Not only is it great reading, but the stuff I am learning from him is working.

    Love metaphysics :)

  5. Oh boy, where do I even begin? I have so many books queued up in my kindle cloud reader...which do I pick?

For non-spanking, I'm currently reading E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality by Pam Grout

E-Squared could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments that prove reality is malleable, consciousness trumps matter, and you shape your life with your mind. Yes, you read that right. It says prove.

The nine experiments, each of which can be conducted with absolutely no money and very little time expenditure, demonstrate that spiritual principles are as dependable as gravity, as consistent as Newton’s laws of motion.

Rather than take it on faith, E-Squared invites you to prove the following principles:

There is an invisible energy force or field of infinite possibilities.
You impact the field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.
Your connection to the field provides accurate and unlimited guidance.
The universe is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating.

For spanking... Explorations...Emily's Fitting by Emily Tilton
“Good morning, Miss Orn,” Mrs. Harrah said. Her voice was high, but pleasant, and confidential. “If you will come to stand here in front of me, we may begin. . . . Mrs. Smith, would you do the part of her maid?”

“Of course, Mrs. Harrah. Miss Orn, your deportment during this fitting is subject to one very important rule: you must watch closely in the mirror. If I see you look away, you will feel my paddle upon your naked bottom yet again.”

Mrs. Harrah spoke again. “Mrs. Smith, am I correct that we will be fitting only the aide-mari this morning? And Miss Orn will be returning for the petit-maître after the bride-night?”

“Yes, Mrs. Harrah. Those are Mr. Wilkes’ wishes.” The petit-maître. The other article Edmund had requested under the term ‘instrument of discipline’. I feared and burned to know.

“Very well. Miss Orn, please raise your hands and place them behind your head—it will be most comfortable for you if you lace your fingers together.”

In the 26th book of Explorations, fantasy-Emily, now with her husband's permission (provided she can keep herself from auto-erotic temptation) continues to read of her great-great-grandmother's initiation as a submissive bride into a Great Drama of BDSM in Victorian England.

  6. I agree with Thianna, I think my TBR list is going to grow from this. Explorations by Emily Tilton is literally next up in my Kindle queue, but Renee already mentioned that.
So one that I have been meaning to read, but haven't yet. And now looking at the blurb why haven't I yet? Is Kaylee's Keeper (Masters of The Castle) by Maren Smith
    Here's the blurb:
    Welcome to The Castle.

Kaylee Waters has saved her pennies for almost two years, mentally debated for six months, changed her mind no less than two-dozen times and finally purchased a three-day pass to what promised to be the vacation of a lifetime: The Castle, the kinkiest theme-resort-to-end-all-vacation-resorts.

So what if she'd fibbed a little on her online application? (Everyone does!) So what if she'd never "actually" engaged in BDSM before? (She's thought about it a lot.) So what if she'd never even been spanked? (She's read tons of books.) This was the Castle, after all, and it promised to change everything. Unfortunately, her first scenario is a catastrophe and sends her from the room in tears, only to be sent to Master Marshall's office - like a bad girl sent before the principal.

Marshall Leaf, founding partner of The Castle, has seen a lot in the three years since the resort opened, but Ms. Kaylee Waters pretty much takes the prize. As far as he can determine, the only truthful thing on her application is her name, and he's not even completely sure about that. She lied so heinously about her past experiences (which are exactly zilch) that what he should do is refund her money and put her on a fast bus home. Instead, for reasons he can't quite understand, he gives her the first spanking of her life, and then sends her back out into the resort. He doesn't give a damn whether she wanted the spanking or not: it was exactly what she needed.

Kaylee should be ecstatic. She's already gotten a spanking, and The Castle is perfect: everything she's dreamed of - and more. She can be anything she wants: sassy maid, naughty schoolgirl, bad "baby" in the nursery, captured princess in the dungeon. But, even though the ice has been broken, why isn't she still fitting in anywhere? Why does everything just feel wrong? Why does she break the rules again and again, and find herself right back in Master Marshall's office?

    Why indeed?

  7. I've been dying to read the 3rd book in Aleatha Romig's Consequences series. It came out a few days ago and I'm trying very hard to finish the other two books I'm reading so I can get to it asap! The genre is suspense, but there's romance and elements of dominance and submission in it too.

    Blurb:

Book #3 of the Consequences Series—

There were still lessons to learn and consequences for the truth!

When Claire Nichols met Anthony Rawlings, she didn't know they had a past, or that he had plans for her future. Over time, the role of teacher changed—games became reality—and domination turned to desire. Despite an insurmountable history, Claire and Tony found their way back to one another.
Just when they seemed to have it all—love, respect, and the promise of a family—the game master exposed the truth. Claire’s world once again spun out of control. Unwilling to allow her child to suffer the consequences of an old vendetta, Claire fled...

At one time, Claire was held captive in an opulent mansion—then her incarceration was a cell inside a state penitentiary. Was her new prison—a tropical island—truly less lonely? Perhaps that was the game master’s plan, all along?

Who will save Claire from her oldest nightmare and her newest reality? Will it be Tony? Can he forgive her for leaving him—again? Harry? Will he utilize previously unknown connections to save the woman who infiltrates his thoughts? Maybe Phil? Will his devotion in keeping Claire and her child safe be rewarded?

As the cards are played—sins of the past, innocent victims, and truths are revealed. With compartmentalization no longer an option, is the reality too much? Could there be an even worse isolation?

With the game master dealing from a stacked deck, can this new high-stakes game possibly be won?

When it’s all over and their cards are on the table—SOME will discover their bets were too high—they have nothing left to lose—ALL will learn the crucial lesson—the most important rule—with the TRUTH comes CONSEQUENCES

  8. I've only got about a zillion on my wish list. I'll do something different here, however, and share a blurb for a non-spanking book. I'm on a mystery kick lately.

I've seen the movie, with Bogie and Bacall, now I want to read the book, on the theory that books are always better than movies.

The Big Sleep, by Raymond Chandler

When a dying millionaire hires Philip Marlowe to handle the blackmailer of one of his two troublesome daughters, Marlowe finds himself involved with more than extortion. Kidnapping, pornography, seduction, and murder are just a few of the complications he gets caught up in.
