#SpankA2Z B is for ....

Barracuda!

When I was a kid my dad had a car just like the one pictured above. The Barracuda! I remember, in a land before child car seats (and I have no complaints about child car seats, just dating myself) my brother and I would put the back seat down so we could lay down and look out the big window in the back.

I wonder if we could fit in one now?

P.S. I know this is a weird word to use for B, but it's what kept coming to mind. Not sure why, but I went with it.

And then there's this...another classic (showing my age too).

  3. My heart goes bounk-ka-da-dounk-ka-dounk listening to the Heart clip. Not like the junk the make today, said an old man. Ah, the car. You lucky girl. We couldn't afford a car until I was about 15 years old. The Netherlands is a small country and we did everything by bike. To go to Amsterdam (about 32 american miles) 60 Dutch kilometers we did with a bike. We left early in the morning and back in the evening. It was a real luxury to have a 12 year old Toyota!

The car looks lovely though, just like your post.

  4. That's a nice car! LOL. It's funny about the car seats. I remember sitting in the back of my dad's pick up truck while he drove down the highway. Glad we have them now though!

  5. I'll date myself right along with you. I remember climbing all over the car on a trip. Good memories - bet you wish you had your dad's old car now.

  7. Thanks everyone! I kept trying to talk myself out of Barracuda, but it just wouldn't go away. Now I'm off to see what other B words people are using.

  8. I had a Barracuda back in the day and now I'm aging myself. I was the driver, not the kid in the back seat. Loved that car.

  9. Nice car:) I remember ridin' in the back dash of my Grandmother's Cadillac just wavin' at all the people that were behind us. Back when life seemed a little less rushed:)

  11. My parents first car (that I remember) was a Vauxhall Cavalier, I think.

And that was still over 25 years ago! And strangely, I can still remember most of their registration numbers but not sure on the colour. ;-) Not quite sure what that says about me.

    1. Dating myself is not the same as having sex with myself. Just so we're clear on that. :)

  14. Love memories like that. And reading about yours reminds me about how in my first year of college, one of the girls' mothers came to visit in a corvette and took her and I to dinner. Obviously in a Covette there is only so much seating. So they lifted up the back and I squished in there to and from the restaurant :D
