#SpankA2Z I is for

Ice Cream!

Try this super simple and tasty homemade ice cream.

1 14 oz can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 cup Half and Half
2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 pint (2 cups) heavy whipping cream

Combine first four ingredients and blend with mixer on medium speed.

In another bowl, beat the heavy cream with the same mixer until stiff peaks form.

Add whipped cream to sweetened condensed milk mixture and fold until completely blended

Pour into loaf pan or other 2 quart freezer safe container and freeze for 6 hours.

Find something else to do for six hours so you don't keep testing to see if it's ready. :)

I think the vanilla is really good but I'm sure you could add in a variety of goodies to amp up the calories and flavor. If you try this, please come back and let me know what you thought.

  1. My mom made the beat homemade ice cream. I don't know that I've ever tried to make it for myself. This sound like a good place to start.

    1. I remember the old ice cream freezers. This is much easier than cranking.

  2. My husband makes homemade ice cream (hasn't yet this year though). OMG, it is awesome. His is very custardy-tasting. It's best that he doesn't make it often, because I have no control. It is too good.

    1. I agree. I have no control when I make this either. But, I think you can use the low sugar or low fat sweetened condensed milk and pretend it's better for you.

  4. I've never made homemade ice cream before. Might have to give it a try because it sounds yummy! I'm pretty skilled at driving through the Dairy Queen drive thru though. :)

    1. This really is easy. No fancy equipment other than a mixer. But Dairy Queen is always a good option.

  7. You mean... ice cream is actually made and doesn't grows in wrappers on the North Pole? My mum used to work in an ice cream parlor before she married my dad. La Venezia. My uncle made the ice cream and my mum sold it.

My wife loves ice cream, but I was never very fond of it. Your recipe made me think of my mum though. Strange how the mind works, huh?

    Enjoy!
